I'm not trying to bash the guy, I'm trying to help him out. He should be well prepared for the shock that comes with the knowledge that Yahtzee isn't considered a god on these fourms. Perhaps I was a bit blunt, but come on it's Pokemon. What else could be if it's not one of the greatest marketing ploys of all time?
Our new friend should be well versed in the fact that Mr. Croshaw hates everything and is getting payed to hate things. But he should also keep in mind that Mr. Croshaw has one the most overly inflated egos in the world, and he's not going to waste his time reviewing something like that because he considers it beneath him. Pokemon is most certainly one of those things.
What really drives me nuts about Yahtzee's fanboys is that they think he has any consideration for the fact that they exist and would even deign to take suggestions from them. If anything, I provide this kid a service, by trying to direct him away from the sin of being a blind fanboy and too show him that there are other routes you can take if you just choose for yourself.
But I do appreciate that someone is labeling me influential around here. Even if it's only because I have a four digit post count. I really didn't think anyone listened to anything I had to say.
We may have different view of how one should interact with someone who is still adapting to the community. I feel an encouraging approach would benefit a person more, than being a bit blunt with it. Of course one shouldn't be too nice either, to risk not delivering the intended message, but there are boundaries and the relevant situation must be taken into accord. If someone is acting like a schmuck, proper sanctions will be deserved.
I do agree that blind fanboyism, in any form, should be promptly discouraged, as it is, well, pointless and ignorant.
Also, while the acclimatized members, such as ourselves, not necessarily care about post counts and community status, newer members might, and thus we should be careful about how we present ourselves. We don't want to set a bad example, because I care too much about this place to see it lose the principles that I came for in the first place.
I respect your opinion, and I would like it very much if you'd try to see things from this perspective as well.
