He IS a true critic. So far as I've seen, Yahtzee has been very objective regarding games. He has bashed a lot of games for their flaws, but in the end, he would say if a game is worth buying, often surprisingly saying "yes". Like Fable, or Heavy Rain, and many more. He points out flaws in games, elaborates what could and should have been better, and sums everything up in the end, weighting the cons and pros. That is what a critic does.

So basically, we have FF fanboys calling him a retard, and Yahtzee fanboys bashing the whole JRPG genre. Personally, I like some JRPG games like FF4, FF6, Chrono Trigger and a few others, but I agree about the flaws of the genre. And yeah, I just can't wait for the review, just so I can laugh my ass of from the floods of FF fanboy shit. I mean, really, like he's gonna stop FF fans and fanboys from buying the game.

He's a critic that gets paid to review games. This is a big title, regardless whether you're a fan or like the Final Fantasy games in general, it's everywhere and people won't shut up about it.

So in short, he's reviewing it because it's his job and a lot of people probably want him to review it too.

According to a rumour I heard, Yahtzee recently recieved copies of Halflife 2: Episode 3, Starcraft: Ghost and Zone of the Enders 3.

Reviews are forthcoming.
According to a rumor, Yahtzee recieved a copy of Duke Nukem Forever [http://www.escapistmagazine.com/videos/view/zero-punctuation/748-Duke-Nukem-Forever] and gave it great scores.
I was going to use DN:F but he'd already done a review of it so I ended up using ZoE3 instead, not quite the same snappiness.

How is the combat in FF13 almost exactly like the combat in Persona 4? There are a few vague similarities, but the combat and pacing are quite different.

You either haven't played the game much, or you're absolutely terrible at this. Hope doesn't act like Tidus. Lightning isn't all that Cloudish once she starts to actually develop (which is something Cloud never does). If anything, FF13 does characters vastly better than any of the games you're claiming "did the characters better."
I'll admit... I was only able to play it for about an hour before I had to either a. turn it off or b. destroy my controller.... so no, I haven't played it long. Something about it bugs me.

Ok i dont know why some people are going on about it takes 20hrs for the game to open up. I have played the game i have also completed the game and my play time wait for it 35hrs 33mins and 21sec (thats ehat it said on the save point).

O.T we all know hes going to rip the piss.

On a different point i did have a lot of fun playing the game and onlike most single player games this had a bit of life in it like ME2 12hrs to finsh. people may not like the game or jrpgs all together but at lest they put a lot of time into making there games. 5 years for final fanasy 13. A game well made if you liked it or not.
So how long did it take you to get to grand pulse?

Cause your playtime sounds exactly like what i have heard. 20 hours of monotonous grind to get to grand pulse, the game opens up and another 15-20 hours (depending on how much sidetracking you do) til endgame.

Regardless I know I played 14 hours (3 hours or so grinding) and I had just started chapt 6. Grandpulse isnt til 11. and there are only what 14 chapters from what i hear? which means the majority of the game is Devil May cry but with much less fun combat.

Im sorry, I have only been a FF player since 10, loved X2, REAAALLLY loved 12, (dont do mmorpgs) but this was boring. Ill rebuy it over the summer when I have time and finish it, but for now im on magna carta.
wait sorry that sounds about right my bad.
But what i really think is going on here is the system in this game is going to be use on 3 other FF games set in the same world so from what I been reading it seems to me like half of this game is a kinda gude for the next 3 or so games that is why there seems to be so little to do. It looks like this is a game to learn the system. it takes them a good part of 2 or so years to bulid a system for ff games well the last couple so maybe this game is to teach you how to use it for the next couple of games? sorry a bit of a rant there.
