I never have and never will smoke, I was pretty heavily conditioned against it as a child. That being said I have a fair amount of family members and friends that do smoke and it's rather interesting to see most people who are smokers really don't want to be smokers, it just becomes too hard for them to quit. Do I think they're stupid for choosing to smoke? Yes, but I'm not going to tell them to stop, or make some self-righteous comment evertime they light up, it's there choice to do whatever they wish with their bodies and I'm not going to deride or babysit them over it.

I will put it as simple as possible.

You smoke. You are an idiot.

Let me explain why.

1.) You STINK.
2.) You LITTER.
3.) You do not respect the health of people around you.
4.) You do not respect YOUR health.

Debate it or not all of these things are true. Now if you were SMART you would quit and tell other smokers to smarten up and do the same.
I love the absoluteness and supposed finality of this statement. This just proves my point a lot better. (what point am I talkin about? you find out since you're a SMART non-smoker) xD

personally, I hate the stereotypical talk against smokers. One of the most obvious reasons a person smokes is because it helps to relax the nerves or pain a person feels. Could some people be more sensitive to the smoke? Sure just like some people are more sensitive to bee stings than others.
Does a non-smoker have a "right" to tell a smoker not to smoke in an inclosed space like an elevator or subway/train or in certain clubs? Sure, but mostly because it's in many people faces in such a tight spot.
Does a non-smoker have the right to tell a smoker to not smoke in an open space like a bus stop or park or parking lot? Heck no! The non-smoker can move their own selfish but a few steps away from the smoke. I've smelled BO from individuals far worse than cigarette smoke. Don't even start about getting "cancer" from 2nd hand smoke for if that was true, there would be tons of smokers in hospitals for cancer because they smoked for years, but there are only a handful at best. It's a popular theory, but still needs far more facts before it is true.

I don't smoke. I don't really need to smoke. But that does not give me permission to talk **** about people for such a basic habit that can be easily walked away from if it bothered me.
I feel that if you want to smoke thats fine but if you're bothering other people with it then you should try, within reason, to accommodate them. This applies to everything, like if I was in my dorm room blasting music its my responsibility to keep the music down so I dont bother the other residents too much. You are the one who decided to smoke so you should bear the responsibility to not bother others. I dont see whats so hard about that with regards to smoking, its understood for almost everything else.

Related to that, I hate people who smoke in line, no one around can move because then they'd lose their spot. All I ask is that people be a little considerate of others and everything will work out fine.

I'm sorry but since when does smoking automatically make you stupid? Yes, it's bad for you but that's incredibly presumptuous. Why does enjoying smoking make me any less intelligent?

Your view on this is incredibly narrow minded and to be honest it sounds a lot like some group came to your school and did a song and dance and now you're convinced that all smokers smoke purely to live up to an image or because they're too dumb to understand consequences.

If smoking is legal, I don't care if you do it. I don't smoke, I would rather another vice but I don't think you are a bad person for smoking. I will inevitably type-cast you, but that is just my nature, any label someone has affects their disposition in my brain automatically. If you break the local laws by smoking in places you are not allowed I think less of you, but it is your life not mine. And I think a lot of the smoking laws are lame, even as someone who can't stand the smell of smoke.

I don't smoke because I enjoy living and I intend to do it for a long time. I don't have a problem with smokers as long as they respect my right to clean air and keep their nasty smoke away from me.

I wish I could condescend people who smoke, because it's a terrible thing to do to your body, but too many people I care about smoke for me to do that. However, if you are one of those fucks that sits in front of the door of a public building and creates a cloud of second hand smoke for us asthmatics to walk through just to enter a public building, I hope you die horribly in a fire after being crippled by a bus.

Nah, you're just a regular ol' person. Just a tad more disgusting. It is the smell, really. I just find it kinda gross. Beyond that, meh. You're just like everyone else.

OP, you must remember that it should be encouraged to discourage smoking. Therefore it is looked down upon more these days.

You need to expect this sort of treatment from certain people if you take up a habit that you know is spelling a premature death a lot of people.

People can do whatever the hell they like with their bodies as long as it doesn't coincide with the responsibilities that come from being around other people, and caring for loved ones. Provided that's all good, it's your body and nobody can tell you what to do. I don't think people get that nowadays.

You are not a bad person for smoking, but some people just can't stand to be around the smell or the smoke. I for one have rather sensitive lungs (I guess that's how to describe it) and I will start coughing at the slightest oddity in smell and cig smoke particularly messes with me. So I have nothing against smokers, I just can't really be around them when they are smoking.

Smoking is a stupid habit, but I'm not gonna bore you with my opinion, seen as you probably dont give a t*ss about it. Instead, a quick statistic:

HALF of all the people that start smoking in their teens will be dead before they reach 60 years old. In a society where we are regularly living till our 90's... thats almost half of your life gone due to an expensive, dirty habit.

Why? What the fuck does that have to do with anything? Does anybody here give a shit if I jump in front of a train? No. So they shouldn't give a shit that I smoke.
You jumping in front of a train doesn't affect me. You smoking around me does affect me. See the difference?

I wouldn't ever demonize people that smoked, that'd be just stupid. Hell, a couple of my friends smoke.

BUT, I never hold back in stating how disgusting of a habit/addiction I find it to be, and barring some huge exception, I'd never date a girl that smoked. It is, quite literally, my biggest turn off.
