Now and Then, Here and there

I know your anime is sad, and imma let you finish, but Now and then, Here and there is the saddest anime of all time. OF ALL TIME!
I doubt it. Have you watched Clannad? Anyone who has watched that series is very much aware that it is the sadness singularity. There is no such thing as 'sadder than Clannad'.

I might just give Now and then, here and there a try though.

Clannad+Clannad After Story-It is absolutely touching. You will cry.

Bokurano-It is also very touching, but at the same time very depressing. And oh yeah, it has giant robots.

Rurouni Kenshin- About a badass swordsman in late 19th century Japan. The great part is how quickly and easily it can go from light comedy to dark and meaningful.

I've been watching anime along time and I like to think I have fairly broad tastes... so here is my top 10...
1. Serial Experiments Lain, It's The Second coming of Jesus, I even did a review!!! [http://www.escapistmagazine.com/forums/read/326.214642-Sacmans-Sac-tastic-Anime-Review-Serial-Experiments-Lain]

2. Ergo Proxy, A lot of people say Ergo Proxy is an anime you have to think about but on reflection it feels more like a parody or satire of over pretentious anime like Eva. The last episode is even titled "Deus Ex Machina."

3. Elfen Lied, What this show does is hard to explain. It's gory and bloody and filled with tasteless nudity but I loved it. Elfen Lied just got me so attachedto the characters that come the end I cried...

4. Welcome To The NHK. It's hard to explain... I mean it's really the only slice of life I've ever loved this much but I'm just not exactly sure why. It could be the pitch black humor, the realistic characters, the social satire, or even the brilliant writing. Honestly, however, I think it's more the fact that Sato's, The main character's, situation hit's very close to home for me...

5. FLCL. I hate to sound like everyone else but FLCL is 6 episodes of awesome craziness!!!

6. Blue Sub No. 6. I used to watch this as a kid on Toonami and I really didn't get it but going back to watch all 4 episodes now I can safely say it's one of the most polished OVA series I've ever see, with an amazing soundtrack, great action, great animation, a standout art style, and one of the most coherent messages about human nature I've seen in anime.

7.Gundam The 08TH MS Team. It really stands out for me because it's one of the few Gundam series that give a general sense of fear because the action is unpredictable and the characters really endear themselves to the audiance...

8. Paranoia Agent. It's a truly great murder mystery that keeps you guessing at every turn but look past that and you'll find a very intriguing deconstruction of the human mind...

9.Gungrave. Possibly one of the most underrated shows I've seen. Gungrave is a truly great story about friendship, love and betrayal without ever falling into cheesiness the great animation, spectacular fight scenes and well thought out character development doesn't hurt either.

10.Higurashi No Naku Koro Ni. Despite having no real plot, since I consider Kai and Rei to be non canon, Higurashi is one of the most atmospheric and frightening shows I've ever seen. It constantly keeps you guessing and always gives a feeling of paranoia and dread...

Midori no hibi- a young mans right hand is transformed into a mini of a girl who secretly has a crush on him (GET YOUR MIND OUT OF THE GUTTER!)

Airiantou- boy shipwrecks and washes ashore a island populated entirely of girls

Devil May Cry- self explanatory

Afro Samurai and Afro Samurai: Resurrection. Great visuals and it has a good revenge theme going on; how far is one willing to stoop to get back at someone who has done them wrong.

Also Samurai Jack. It's bascially an in depth stroy about the constant battle of good vs. evil.

Code Geass seems like something you would like to watch, since your favorite anime tends to have a strategist as an important character.

Go watch Black/Rock Shooter. It has awesome character designs, some very surreal moments [BRS' world] and the animation and fight scenes rock! The story is kind of average but the way that it is told is pretty special. It's one of my favorites.
Thats funny, cos when I flicked through it to see what it was like it seemed that 90% of it was set in a school. That coupled with the fact everyone was calling it the biggest disappointment of the season was the reason I decided not to watch it after all.
Don't just flick through it! The majority is set in a school, and if I tell you about the other world it will spoil it for you...
I won't pressure you into watching it, but don't let others opinions sway you from watching it.

Nice list, agreed on the above, but i would squeeze in Wolfs Rain at number two ;)

Edit_ an above poster also mentioned FLCL (furikuri?) its 6 episodes of perfect insanity

Monster: A fine noir thriller, set in Eastern Germany before and after the fall of the Berlin wall.
Thanks for adding more to my to-do list. I still haven't finished that damn series.

On topic... Shin Getter Robo '04. Or New Getter Robo, as it's called stateside. Fourteen episodes of vast amounts of manliness and awesome. [http://www.amazon.com/New-Getter-Robo-Complete-Box/dp/B000FTCEU0/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&s=dvd&qid=1283113231&sr=8-1] It's also kind of violent. Not as much as Baccano! but still a notable amount. Of blood. From demons. That the main character killed with his bare fucking hands.

Katekyo Hitman Reborn

The story isn't all that good in my opinion.
What.
How long have you watched? Or, well, read?
Sure, the whole current arc is pretty dragged out, but it's still brilliant.
I'm around the part where the Real 6 Funeral Wreaths have been introduced. The show is pretty fun, and the box/rings concept is genius, but I never thought of it as anything too special.

well if you liked death note i would suggest waiting for the pilot of mirai nikki (comes out September 9 and hopefully it will get a series) cuz the manga was awesome.
another one would be
Gantz, although the anime isn't as good( they also cut it short, try the manga)
and
High school of the dead, the anime is the most badass, action packed anime i have ever seen, and the manga is one of the best.

I suggest you go watch Clannad and Clannad After Story. Then you will see which is truly the saddest.

Dango. Help me explain to SUPA FRANKY how truly tear jerking Clannad is.
