So, Reach has been out for almost a week now, and I've just started towards the "A Monument to All Your Sins" achievement in the game. I must say, it is the hardest thing I've ever done in a game. As you may know, the achievement requires you to beat the game on Legendary, by yourself. The game is annoying me so much with the ridiculous amounts of damage the enemies do now. A Grunt can kill me in 2-3 hits. It's ridiculously hard, at least for me, but I'm not the greatest player. I had nowhere near this much trouble trying to beat MW2 on Veteran. So anyone else have this problem, trying to beat a game on the hardest difficulty? Not just Halo: Reach though, any game.

yeahh all i can say is good fucking luck.

the enemy is a cheating *****, it knows when your hiding to replenish your health/shield, so it rushes and tosses grenades with randy johnson like accuracy, or they send out grunts like its no ones business as suicide bombers. on top of that, anytime your going for headshots the elites do side rolls/armor lock ups to dodge your shit that you be throwin at them.

the game is a *****, i dont know if ill ever beat it on legendary by myself. (especialyl on driving parts, fuck the new bouncy-ness of vehicles)

Here's a little piece of advice for beating Reach on Legendary: Drop shield.

Seriously, any chance that you can use the drop shield armor ability, USE IT. It creates a shield that protects your from enemy fire, and at the same time replenishes your health! This is the most useful armor ability in the game.
i can second this, im almost done only 3 more levels but the drop shield has been my saviour many times :)

btw i get what you mean about the enemy A.I is awesome, especially compared to the friendly A.I

Experiment with different weapon combos to find what works for you. Then grab a Plasma Pistol and a DMR and never put them down (hehe, j/k). For big enemies like Elites, keep a plasma weapon to take down the shield and a human weapon for the finishing headshot once they're down. Small enemies like Skirmishers and Grunts go down with one headshot from the Pistol or DMR. Go for the headshot EVERY time. Above all, go slow. Even if you don't make a dent, back off before your shields go down. Perseverence FTW.

This campaign is great. And tough!

I am currently at the level where Noble is dropped on the beach, just after things go from bad to REALLY bad. It has been challenging on Legendary, however I have plowed through. Tips:

Your squadmates cannot die. Abuse this fact, because they can certainly kill.

Squadmates make for great decoys. When an enemy is targeting them, flank the enemy and go for a melee. Or use the chance to hide.

ALWAYS have a weapon with a scope. Pick the grunts off from range with a head shot. Elites aren't as tough when they are by themselves.

When you see an Elite's power armor starting to get brighter, unload everything you have on him. His shield is about to drop. After that, aim for the head.

I have found that Hologram works best for me. Send it in one direction, and I go in the other.

The one game that I tried and failed to beat on the hardest difficulty is Call of Duty 4: Modern Warfare. Stupid "No Fighting In the War Room." And there is no way Dragon Age can be beaten on Nightmare, so I'm not even going to try.

The DRM is great for grunts, jackals, skirmishers, and to headshot elites. You should also keep a good plasma weapon to take down elite shields. I suggest the plasma pistol as there is a lot of them and a fully charged shot should take down a shield. The drop shield and hologram are excellent armor abilities so try to get them. Another thing, we you can be sneaky, do it. It should make things a lot easier.

But just as a general tip, go slow. I always have the urge to go way ahead into battle guns blazing and I doubt I'm not the only one, but you need to take your time. Snipe from far away and wait until the enemy is gone until you move forward.

I was planning on starting that achievement tomorrow. I didn't have too much trouble on heroic, but I imagine there's quite a jump from heroic to legendary. I'm not looking forward to playing the last few levels.

Oh Dear. I didnt have too much trouble on Heroic but there were a few spots that required many respawns. I dont even want to think about them on Legendary.

Well, first things first. DAMN YOU!

there we go, now that that's off my chest for seeing another Halo: Reach thread...
You should use the Pistol/Plasma Pistol combo it's the best at taking out grunts AND brutes. I got through most of the Halo 3 and ODST solo campaign using this combo, it makes the game so much easier.

I got the achievment yesterday, it's really tough. A few pieces of advice:

1. Dropshield
2. DMR + plasmapistol = DEATH (for brutes, just apply needlerifle to the head)
3. RUN. Seriously, if something seems impossible, just run the fuck away if you can.
4. Shotgun on hunters. I found nothing else that seemed to do any damage on them.

I can't win on a game because I am a *unt....

The difficulty on this game is *unt level....

Can I not be a *unt, and still score the mega awesome killer gamer points?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?1

Nope, the OP is still just a lazy *unt that can't play the game on a different difficulty than *unt level.

It's rather simple to get more from this game than 5 hours of *unt play.

But then again, I really don't wan't to even address the *unt players that want to say this game sucks.

*uck all you *unt players that need to feel one way or another about this game.

*uck you all, you low life *hit players.

IS THIS REALLY WHAT WE ALL THINK!?!?!?!

I just started it myself and it is really incredible difficult. So far I have found that the sniper rifle is next to useless on elites, which was surprising and large groups of grunts are truly terrifying.

lol same here: I started the campaign on level 1 and the first enemy i encountered(level 2) was a effin' Elite General who surgically sliced my head of with his big knife! my advise: stay behind! your team can take the damage and you give cover from long distance and finish up the surviving baddies!

I think I'll wait a loooooong time before attempting this. Fuel Rod Guns were bad enough on heroic.
