Real life chores. Why is mafia II making me clean toilets and lift crates into trucks? Why is darksydephil having to sit through 2 minute homework scenes and tying people's ties in heavy rain?

I mean, if a game is just going to make me clean toilets, I might as well go get a job and get paid to clean actual toilets instead of having a game I paid for make me clean toilets for no real reason.

"But it makes the game more immersive!"

Yeah, and I'm immersing myself in a world where I'm doing all the same damn chores I do in real life. Pointless. There's a good reason Arkham City didn't have washing dishes side quests.

I don't really have qualms with ignoring the expanded universe when it comes to games like KOTOR.

Remember when they put Yoda into the game? And NOBODY could touch him because he was so tiny? Good times. XD
I remember. I saw two of my friends insist on playing several yoda vs yoda fights when they got it. They found it hilarious, but all I could think was; A: Noone is landing any hits, so this takes forever and B: if either of you had a PS3 we could be having Vader vs Vader duels dammit.
Also Soul Calibur 4 added that Soul Crush thing which was a massive pain.

"Not good with guard impacts and tend to use normal block ? Sucks to be you."

I saw someone go 99 - 2 with Kilik, just spaming staff moves, breaking guard, then Soul Crush.

So league of legends had their All Stars event recently.

NA managed to beat EU thanks to their ADC doing really well, I play on the NA server.
Now ADC which was my favorite role has become the most popular role in the game and is filled with people who have no idea what they are doing. It's so annoying to see people taking roles that they don't know how to play properly then having to support them >.<

Yeah, you can decide what you what the characters to be like in the game, but both Revan and Meetra have fully fleshed out backstories that are canon and set in stone.
I'm also confused about the gender issue. Did they said Dark Revan was a man, before the start of the game (the first one)? I don't recall that. Hence the name Revan, because it can be applied to both male and female character.
Hmmm, maybe it's time for me to replay that jewel.

DEFCON: "So you know that alliance we have? Well, now it's 'had'"
This is why you have a fleet of subs parked off the coast of your "ally" for when they decide to break alliance and flip their silos. I'm pretty sure backstabbing allies is pretty much par for the course in DEFCON... Well, it is in the games that I've played.

It's not explicitly stated in either of the games; the KotOR games are, for all intents and purposes, fully tailored to the player's preferences while playing.

The trivial non-issue lies in the fact that things like comics, novels, and even other Star Wars old republic themed games (in other words, Star Wars: The Old Republic) have developed a canonized backstory for both Revan and Meetra.

played KotOR with Revan as a woman or KotOR II with the Exile as a man and if you chose the dark side path in either of the games, then according to the canon, you've been playing it wrong since Revan is male, Meetra is female, and both were officially hard-core, gung-ho lightside in the end.

Again, it's a pretty minor thing and it doesn't stop me from enjoying the games or detract from the experience, it just bugs me for some reason.

I'm a little confused. A friend of mine told me that when you play kotor 2, you decide what the cannon was through a conversation. They call Reven a man and you have the option to say "No, she was a woman" and then they'll say "Oh, you're right"

Granted, like somebody else already mentioned, it was kind of necessary. You can't very well have an ambiguously dressed, constantly masked hero walking around in an official representation of a specific storyline... unless that's what you were going for in the first place, I guess.

It still bugs me though.
Ah. I see now. So even though Kotor 2 lets you decide, the cannon for the whole thing is set in stone

I think the OP means that it bugs him (or her?) a little - playing the KotOR games now with the knowledge that the canonical gender/alignment/appearance/etc of both protagonists has been set in stone. Hence, the title of the thread.
Now this is getting philosophical. Is OP's cannon gender whatever we decide it to be until he/she corrects us?

Ah, I remember correctly then.
It's difficult to maintain a steady course with such franchises. I've noticed how Karpyshyn was trying to mention Shepard as little as possible, in the Mass Effect books, as not to mess with the player's experience and choices.

I am the Alpha and Omega, my existence does not conform to your petty reality; gender has no meaning to one such as I. Now kneel before me, mortal, and accept my word as canon.

Or you could just check my profile, but y'know, whatever works best for you.

I get annoyed that Crusder Kings 2 doesn't have a "load game" option from the in game menu. Also get steamed about X3 not letting you speed time up whilst docked.

The melee animation in Metro: Last Light. The noise thats made when he just melees something (Not slitting a throat, but just pressing the melee button) is so unnatural and awful.

Just button prompts in general. No, I do not need a giant floating O button icon or goddamn QTEs in mah games.
