Yorkshire elects first BNP MEP

The title says it all. I've been watching the BBC coverage online and now I'm quite depressed.
Is this the beginning of the end of multiculturalism?

EDIT: For those who are not European/British, tonight the results of the European Parliamentary elections are being announced. This is the first time the UK have elected a BNP candidate to the European Parliament; one of the three governing insitutions of the European Union.
The BNP are a party which claims to represent the white working class in the UK. Amongst other things they will not allow black people to join their party and beleive Britain needs to be ruled by white, Christians. I won't link to their website so you don't get marked as a racist by anyone monitoring your internet traffic.

I'm watching it too. It is incredibly depressing, especially when you see that nearly ten percent of people over a huge geographic area voted for them. I'm trying to find a bright side, and all I can think of is that the more exposure that they have, the more people will see the type of bigoted arseholes they are. But honestly, given the amount of the exposure they've already had, I can only assume that ten percent of the people of Yorkshire and Humber want to vote for bigoted arseholes, and were perfectly aware of what they were doing. So fuck them.

I suppose that it's a mid-term election, and disaffection with politics is at an all-time high; which are exactly the conditions that fringe parties do well in. So it may be that this might be the high water mark for the BNP. I sincerely hope so.

The British National Party are a far-right political party, committed to stopping immigration to the UK, and attempting to send back as many of the immigrants which are already here as possible. They preach bigotry and hatred, and they've just won a seat in the European parliament for the first time.
