Game Type: JRPG
Boss Name: Havok
Looks: Big mosterous multiheaded dragon.
Back Story: You know, the usual. I'm a big bad cosmic entity from beyond set out to destroy the Universe. Why? I don't know, because I can, I guess.
Stage: Trippy cosmic battlefield, ala Final Lavos battle from Chrono Trigger.
Moves: Lots of big flashy attacks with grandiose names that pummel the player's entire party.
Weakness: Weakness?? I don't have a weakness! This is a JRPG damnit. You just have to keep wailing on me till I die. I am immune to fire though, so don't bother using that.

I am in a steampunk RPG.

My name is the ntw3001.

I am a giant robot.

I have no real backstory; I am in a factory, I attack the party because I can and when the protagonists defeat me the factory falls down for some reason.

My stage is a factory.

My moves are all highly-telegraphed, heavy-hitting and feature whirling blades.

The player defeats me by hitting me in the legs with absolutely any object, over and over again.

Imagine you are a boss in a video game;
what type of game are you in?
what is your boss-name?
what do you look like?
what is your back story?
what is your stage like?
what are your special moves / mechanics?
how does the player defeat you?
Game type: Western RPG (Sci-fi, not Fantasy)
Boss Name: Colossotronimus...us. IX. Mk III.
Appearance: A boss larger than any of the levels themselves and, in fact, bigger than the entire gameworld. You basically fight a scaled-down, tangible, holographic representation of my pupil. That's the first stage. After that, see the Backstory section.

So I guess just a very large black circle, followed by a big man with no skin and weird scarrings.
Backstory: Scientists[footnote]Fucking scientists, always responsible for all the worst bosses[/footnote] were experimenting on a captive P.O.W. with enlargement rays and shit. Basically, something went wrong cause it always does and he never stopped growing. And also he's hideously mutilated and disfigured because the enlargement ray affected different areas of his body at different rates, so his muscles grew faster than his skin could handle and now he looks like a really big version of this [http://www.nlm.nih.gov/medlineplus/ency/images/ency/fullsize/9678.jpg]. And also other disgusting scarrings. This was insanely, excrutiatingly painful for him to endure and only fuelled the hatred he had for the scientists and their associated faction, which is you.
Boss stage: The pupil hologram is about the diameter of twenty average-sized people stood end-to-end. This is suspended in the air around which a wide, halo-like platform slowly rotates to maintain the image. You destroy it by taking out the tangibility projectors one by one.

There are ten of them. They're all really weak and will burst into flames after one shot, but they're very hard to hit. And also the pupil hologram will be shooting crap at you.

Anyway, when the projectors are ka-sploded you can power up the infinite decimation satellite which will reduce him by a tenth of his size every ten seconds, forever. However, by the time he's the size of a house, he's managed to destroy it so you just have to make do with that and kill him in his building-sized form. More lasers, because why not?

Special moves: Read that again. Fucking lasers!
Victory conditions: Projectors all disabled for stage one, Colossotronimus...us IX Mk III decapitated[footnote]This is difficult to achieve cause his neck is very thick and you don't have anything to hack with, so you just shoot it until you slice through all the sinew with your bullets[/footnote] for stage two.

This is what passes for creativity when you're as tired as I am.

game type: Fantasy, perhaps also suitable as an alien in a sci-fi otherworld setting like Borderlands (Where there aren't intergalactic armies and such to just nuke it)
boss name: None, unknown giant humanoid, rock-covered creature
looks: A truly humungous, level sized boss, a somewhat human shape covered in thick layers of rock.
back story: I would be a simple, unintelligent devourer, wiping out chunks of civilisation from the planet between hibernation periods, waiting for them to rebuild before attacking again.
Stage: A large, open area where I approach, the player would then spend the battle either helping a squad down below to try and take me down mid-approach with heavier weapons (magic and things like trebuchets in fantasy setting or artillery weapons and other heavy weapons in sci-fi), or attempt to climb up my body and place explosives behind my neck.
special moves / mechanics:
If player chooses to fight on the ground - Each step sends tremors through the ground which brings up large amounts of sand, concealing me and protecting me from magic/homing weapons before I step out of the cloud. I can summon chunks of rock into my hand, or simply pull them from the ground, and throw them as projectiles at the enemy forces. In the fantasy setting, I would also be able to punch the ground, making a rock spire lift up from the ground and smash people from beneath, and also open up the ground to restrict movement/swallow up the player and allies. Sci-fi setting, the same action can cause less focused splits in the ground.
If player chooses to climb me - Precision platforming and climbing gameplay, being forced to dodge both attacks I cause by trying to crush you against my body, and attacks from your allies. Both would be fairly telegraphed. I can also shift the rocks on my body to form more varied platforming segments, requiring the player to work out the best routes around my body by the constantly shifting platforms. If I perform an attack on the ground troops, new paths to skip portions of my body may open up, although the path to perform the transfer would be more difficult. I get more difficult to climb up until you reach my shoulder, where you have to plant the explosives and get off me before the explosive goes, or else you fall to your death/I end up crushing you, depending how far you are off me.
how does the player kill me?: On the ground - Successfully pounding me with weapons until I collapse.
Climbing - Successfully planting the explosives and escaping my body before it blows.

game type: FPS
boss name: Mecha Flying Dinosaurobo
looks: Pretty self explanatory. A giant T-Rex/Pterodactyl made of glistening steel, piloted by the crazy scientist, Dr Jurassic
Stage: The twisted robot theme park of Dr Jurassic, inside the dinosaur show enclosure, surrounded by TV cameras and a wailing audience
special moves / mechanics: Miniguns inside the dinosaurobo's mouth, drills for nails, retractable wings and nitro powered spiked tail. Its arms are too small to actually attack so they flail as it tries to attack you. Its chest cavity pops open to reveal a giant laser cannon, which charges up slowly and can be blocked up by bombs fired by the player. The robo's wings can be destroyed which turns the fight into a ground battle.
how does the player kill me?: By destroying the wings first, then shattering the dinosaur's skull by firing rockets and other such weaponry at its head. The head eventually opens up and the robot speeds up and becomes more powerful, deploying its powerful StegoLaunchers. These robot stegosauruses must be thrown back at the robot using the player's vacuum cannon, eventually causing the robot to explode and Dr Jurassic to flee through the dinosaurobo's rectum escape pod.

Game type - Action/Adventure
Name - Zak Tanova
Looks - A rogue. Wears dark clothing, carries a sword and a flail, lean.
Back story - After being caught attempting to overthrow my former employer, he punished me like he does to all of his other disobedient thieves, with a blast of his disintegrating vision. I however, survive but instead gain my life-changing powers (see powers below).
Stage - On top of a fortress.
Powers - My body is made up of billions of microscopic insects that I control at will (I gained these when I was punished). This allows me to send parts of my body to attack, avoid attacks, and slip into small places ( ;) ). The insects cannot bite, poison, or anything of that sort, but I can use their mass to blind and choke people.
How does the player beat me? - by either attacking me from behind, or by using some sort of elemental attack, as the insects are most susceptible to attacks than a human would be. My health is low, due to being weakly armored.

Genre: JRPG
Name: Awesome Guy
Looks: Guy with a black with white trimmings trenchcoat, he stands with his hands in his pockets like a badass
Backstory: The main character just figured out that i'm the main villain (cuz i'm sneaky like that) so he corners me in my awesome lair
Stage: On the top of my awesome mountain lair
Moves: Attack, Basic Heavy Wind Spell, Rage! (after half health only)
Defeat: By having a half decent healer, i'd be the boss that's suspiciously easy so i can be replaced by the real main villain after i die

game type: RPG

boss name: Scythe

looks: A naked woman with long white hair and silver skin. A tattoo of a thorns warped around body as if in chains.

back story: Being Lord Death's weapon, I have cut down many people's lives and sent them to the afterlife until one day I woke up alone without Death. Immediately, I try to seek him out but cannot unless I have someone to hold my chains. (blah. poorly worded sentences.)

Stage: A dream

special moves / mechanics: I have one move in which the tattoos around my body float and try to claw and wrap around the player so I can crush him to death.

how does the player kill me?: HE DOESN'T. I'm one of those 'boss' battles where you have to lose :p Then afterwards I become the character's main weapon because he becomes the new Death. (actually this doesn't seem that bad idea of a video game pitch)

game type: diablo-like fantasy rpg game
name: Kittii
looks: small, floating, 5 tailed white cat, surrounded by swirling, glowing red glyphs. tied with chains.
background: human "princess" captured by biggest baddest boss and bound into my current form in a deep dungeon with many constraints.
stage: circular room at the bottom of a dungeon cave. filled with chains and a satanic circle in the centre. glyphs float around the room. pillars at random locations
mechanics:cannot leave the satanic circle. cannot deal or take physical damage from a normal weapon or fist. has a limited number of glyphs that can be used to summon creatures to fight with. when the creature dies a ring of fire appears and expands outwards to deal damage to the player (obstacles in the room can block the fire) and a glyph disapears. can use the glyhs floating around the room to burn those who touch them (cant control the movement).
how does the player defeat you?: by either killing all the creatures and removing all the glyphs or by attaching the chains to the pillars and keeping me still enough to attack.
very very low health because its a cat...

game type: Horror shooter
boss name: Cavity
looks: A monstrous giant, no longer resembling a human, with a huge tongue and a cavity beginning at the place where there used to be a lower jaw and ending where there used to be genitals.
back story: a double agent for the cops who was also a double agent for the mafia. Some deal with smuggling cocaine in the carcasses of animals, using a slaughterhouse I had to run. Alas, both parties found when I tried to make a run for it. I managed to escape the police, but not the mob. They caught me up with me at the airport, brought me back to my own slaughterhouse and gave me what I deserved. They used the butchering tools to rip my entire chest and belly open. I was dead - this is, of course, until the Days of the Black Sun began... "Hell was full, so I came back".
Stage: Demonically possessed slaughterhouse.
special moves / mechanics: I throw my decaying guts at the player when he is at far range. Organs like kidneys and lungs will do damage, pieces of colon however, will entangle the player and slow him down. At mid-range, I'll start using my rotting 'Gene Simmons meets Venom'-esque tongue to reel you in. Once you in close range, I will attack you by crushing you between the cracked ribs of the cavity that runs from my mouth to the place where my privates used to be.
how does the player kill me?: By staying as far away as possible - avoid the colons and the tongue. Shoot me from a distance to get my attention and deal some minor hits. The real damage will be caused by luring me to dangerous installations (meat hooks, meat grinders, etc.) and then activating them.

Game Type: Puzzle Boss!
Name: Anquas
Look: Humanoid, silver hair. Seems quick, and nondescript.
Backstory: He built a lab around testing the player with his new physics-modification-or-extension-or-whatever-it-does device. He wants to see how badly the player misuses it.
Stage: All throughout the warehouse/world/whatever.
Mechanics: Provides more difficult puzzles than the average level, and sets a time limit for the player to try to get to me, for a final-battle-style using the device against me.
How to defeat: Well, in every trial but the last, the time limit is too small to get to me. In the final one, there is an obvious place that I need to be to be defeated, and the player has to use the device to get me there.

Game Type: Post-apocalyptic action/3rd person shooter. Co-op only boss.
Name: Niall Jones
Looks: Tall, thin man, with obvously muscular arms and red hair. Chunk of left ear missing. Speaks with an Irish accent.
Back Story: Niall was a soldier before war broke out between NATO and an alliance of Russia and China, when he deserted. he later banded together a small group of mercenaries, but became addicted to steroids.
Stage: Former military compound. Large open area with vehicles dotted around.
Moves/mechanics: Niall is a two-stage fight. In the first, he mostly shoots his rifle at the players while underlings run in with rifles and grenades. Periodically, Niall will climb on top of a Jeep in the centre of the fight area and point two sawn-off shotguns at the two largest player groups. The players must scatter or Niall will bring them all down to 1% of total health. The second phase begins after three minutes. A pair of blast doors open and smoke grenades are hurled into the courtyard. Under the smoke cover, Niall runs away and climbs into an experimental 'suit' he has cobbled together. The suit's main weapon is a tank gun, but it can also perform a souped-up, instakill version of Niall's shotgun attack with less time to scatter as well as utilising a flamethrower if players get too close. How does the player kill me?: Avoid both types of shotgun attack at all costs. Just attack during the first phase, and hurt him as much as possible. Don't let his underlings get out of control. Once the suit comes into play, run up the building around the outside of the courtyard to RPGs on the roofs. Niall's tzank gun can destroy parts of the building and players must be wary of this.
