No, because I'm not a misanthrope.

It's overly pointless to hate, or pretend to hate everyone.
I hate people as a whole. You try going to a high school full of rich spoiled pricks for 4 years, then getting a part time job with a bunch of morons and even stupider people eating there half the time...
I'm pretty sure most of us did. Not me of course.

What? Why the hell would someone WANT to be a jerk?

That's like someone wanting to loose all of their friends and alienate everyone they know.

"Thanks"

Internal monologue: "GOD DAMMIT. No I'm not. I fucking hate you. Go away. I AM "THE MISANTHROPE". RAGE"

Anyone here ever experience anything like this?

lol, yes, absolutely yes a thousand times

but, then again, i am convinced there are people you like, and it's kind of nice to hear that from them.

Here's a word of advice concerning the friend zone. Never try and leave because you just end up in the "I never want to talk to you again" zone. It's really quite shit.

Being "the nice guy" gets me teased amongst my peers, but respected amongst my superiors. So it evens out in my case... uh, kinda. :)

But you're not humble.

OT: I like to act like I hate everyone and everything. But thats mostly to turtle who I truly am.

Oh hey, sounds like me before I joined the military. I mean, who orders shrimp fried rice at Popeye's, honestly?

No rich kids though. I was surrounded by "thugs" who had better clothes than me (at the time).

I don't hate...
I dislike and for good reason.
But not everyone...
There's only a select few people I don't like very much, but generally I'm too much of a nice guy to just tell them straight to fuck off.

One of them is a needy ***** who tried her hardest to dig her claws into me by way of convincing me (poorly) that I was the only reason she hadn't committed suicide at the time.
She later moved onto one of my mates and has now successfully alienated him from a good few of his friends and generally make him feel like crap because she a fucking scab...

There's a guy I don't like simply because he forbids a certain person to talk to me.
A person I knew and enjoyed being around for years before he even showed up.
This really bugged me before I met my girlfriend because until recently this person was someone I spent a good majority of my time with.
Then this douche-bag shows up and forbids her from going near me because "I'm a high risk for helping her cheat on him..."

Later I found out that he cheated on her, but that's all fine apparently and They've been going out for a year since...

Like I said I don't try to hate, I only allow myself to dislike, and only if people are really deserving of it...

I'm not a misanthrope so much as a misfit, I don't mind people and they ignore me. It all works out in the end.

So no, if someone were to tell me that I was the nicest person they know, I might question their choice, but I wouldn't rage at them for it.
