I take that as a badge of honor! Not proud of it mind you, but I just accepted it and moved on without caring too much about is.

When I get called that my reaction is thus: "And the sky is blue, what's your point?"

I've only really been called a nerd or a geek a few times, but I wear those comments like badges of honour. I never really thought of myself as a nerd of any kind until a friend of a friend called me one in a light-hearted way, which made me smile in a sort of "Am I really?" way.

I don't like the nerd label, because of its connotations with the kind of mouth-breathers who self-diagnose themselves with Asperger's and are held in thrall by crappy collectible merchandise that they try to justify as high art.
Geek, I'm okay with, because it sort of implies a thorough knowledge of a subject that is non-trivial, such as astrophysics or botany.
Dork? Well, that's a sort of socially inept label. I'm socially inept, so being labelled as such is entirely fair, and an impetus to improvement.

I know i fit into one of them. I'm usually okay with it though. My friend used to use dork as a compliment so that's where it first started to lose it's edge. Geek was never really applied to me except once from a guy whose face isn't the same as it used to be. Nerd I am and always have been fine with.

Eh I'm not offended, I take the name with pride :D

However there was one occasion where someone did try to insult me by calling me a nerd. I would have been more offended if the girl in particular wasn't expelled from multiple schools, failing every subject, smoking crack and being a "renowned" slut.

Yeah, girls can be bitches, but in this instance, to know that she will most likely be serving me in my next trip to McDonalds is quite a reassuring feeling :p

When someone calls me a nerd, it's usually meant to be an abrasive insult, but usually evoked the mental response of "Isn't that cute, he thinks being a nerd is a negative quality." Any insulting remark that includes the word nerd can be swiftly derailed by asking the person insulting you what the definition of a nerd is, and watching them struggle to come up with something specific to insult you with.

I don't really care I just sorta use it as a way to narrow down my interests without listing them all.

Nerd, geek, dork, whatever I'm called for whatever reason, I'll probably agree with it. Yes, I play games all the time. I (attempt) to make games almost every hour of the day. Yes, I have a years worth of non-perishables in the basement next to the shotgun, pistol, ammunition, trench spikes, and first-aide kit. I watch anime frequently. To deny the label that has been placed on me by society is to deny myself.

Im a bit of all 3, and no being called any of them doesnt bother me, what does get my gander up is when people use it to assign me with other traits jsut because "thats what people like you do isnt it?"- a textbook example was recently when I went to a TCG event, after getting back my old man asked me "do you all have handles? like in that Hackers film?".

Geeks can be seen in a good light. Dork is always bad, and Nerd is somewhere in the middle. I consider myself Geek and Nerd. and proud.

Nerd? I have no idea what you are talking about.
*slowly kicks model replica of anduril under desk*

But in all seriousness I do carry the title of being a nerd quite proudly. It's the basis of who I am and my entire personality summed up in one word.

Meh... If someone wants to call me a geek/nerd/etc. then let them. My self-esteem can't really go much lower than it already is.

I've stopped getting mad about it. Like that one episode of Big Picture, everyone is a nerd in some way. The word just tends to have a technological, basement-dwelling, bacne having, no showering, pale connotation to it in today's society.

i'm a big fat ass nerd geek (except not fat), its just what I am. I don't mind people calling me a nerd or geek either, though I draw the line at dork which has more condescending overtones.

...

Now i'm off to play some Dungeons of Dredmor.

I wish I could claim the title "geek" or even "nerd" but I'm one of those people who knows a little about a lot of different things. A very little in some cases -_-;

Well, it was always hard for kids to try and lump me into a group, i was good at sports and partook in it regularly, listened to all kinds of music (my only requirement is for it to be good), was a bit more thought out when it came to philosophical and/or political issues, and generally took part in "nerdish" activities such as playing video-games and reading comic books.

Sure nerd and geek fit me. I don't consider myself to be a dork though, as it makes me sound like a coplete social retard.

Edit: oh well basicly what the guy above me says.
