OK... so I bought wow about a month and a half ago and i was really enjoying it for the first three weeks and I even got the first expansion, but then someone changed my password. I contacted blizzard about this issue and so the had my account "temporarily disabled" for three weeks and today I found out they disabled my account for good when all I wanted was access to it. about 100 dollars and all of my achievements and characters down the drain. My account can no longer be played by anyone so that is even more of a waste of money I really would have felt better leaving it with my hacker than blizzard just disabling it so no one could play.

"Fuck you, Please"

But yeah, I'm pretty sure it's almost impossible to determine who really owns the account, so they shut it down so at least someone won't use it "unfairly".
But I don't know for sure.

Wait, so you'd rather have had someone else keep using your account - hijacking all your progress and making you waste a hundred bucks - and you're pissed that they disabled it? The hacker just got a bit of retaliatory justice/vengeance, that's all.

Anyway, shit happens. You probably should have stated you wanted the account back, though of course it isn't your fault.

I did, I just needed to rant because I waited for three weeks for them to officialese it being shut down.

Keep pressing the issue with customer support, they allow you to re-verify your details simply by scanning your ID (Passport, what have you) Letter addressed to you with your name on it (Proving address), and confirming it with your account details, and will be able to restore it. Don't just jump the gun and say "F- this and F- that" nothing is hopeless.

This happens to many people but those people don't give up.

But seriously virus scan PC, and protect your account better, things like this don't just happen at random.

I've been clean of a WoW-Hacked account 4 years so fingers crossed it stays that way, but really the PC I play WoW on doesn't have ANYthing on it, it is purely used for online gaming, all my extra 'iffy' stuff is on a laptop. (That includes web browsing)

Log onto the WoW site, there's a way to submit a hacked account ticket. It's not difficult, and you'll end up faxing or emailing them proof of identity but they will restore it. Then get an authenticator or use a non-dumb password and don't download junkware.

Next time consider your options before you jump straight to "My account is permagone QQ"

Yeah, something seems fishy about this, because there was a thread not too long ago, about people's stories of being hacked.

Everyone of them got their accounts back. You need to start pinging on Blizzard about this. Just pester them until they do the right thing.

That's why they encourage letters and numbers! Or something like that?

I've heard they can be quite the ***** to get any serious issues resolved. Sucks, dude. I doubt you'll want to play after that debacle, must be damn discouraging.

Play FFXIV instead! :D

Your own dumb fault for not maintaining account security.
^that.

Hackers don't happen randomly for wow accounts. You did something dumb, somewhere down the line.

You should of gotten a Blizzard Authenticator. I'm just saying.

OT: Pester them. They will give it back. My account was banned once permanently. If you just keep asking them questions they should cave in, and give it back.

There was a time when i cared about when I got hacked in WoW, but that's behind me. Not playing it again. But that really sucks. Blizzard needs to step up authentication WITHOUT making us pay extra.

The tough part is getting the issue through the first useless tiers of support. Once the right department gets ahold of your case, and once you send in your proof of identity your account is generally restored in a day or two.

Go ask Blizzard about it with the logic of someone who have passed the age of pointless swearing and maybe they'll fix it for you. They do have procedures for fixing problems hackers cause.

I blame Half-Life 2: Episode 3, yes, because of it's non-existance Blizzard will continue to make money off of wow, somehow.

the Blizzard Authenticator will not save you all they have to do is log the results a few times and they can replicate it does no one remember the so called hack for it?

The authenticator helps a ton.

But it's not rock solid no. When it was new, if you got hacked, they'd add an authenticator to your account even if you didn't have one. That was fun for my friends :D

If you get hacked with an authenticator though. You really fucked up and need to learn about something called...anti-virus.
