You can only play ONE genre forever, which is it.

RPGs all the way. Though if I have to choose a specific category of RPGs, then SRPGs.

-Raptor, out.

Wait for it....

Right, now that I have my flame retardant clothes on... RTS. I just love gathering resources while defending and then sending in a swarm. Does that make me simple? I wonder if that's why I like risk so much too?

I rolled a 1 and a 5 while he rolled a 3 and 4. Then I rolled two 5s against his 3 and a 2. Then I did something truly amazing... I rolled a six and a 3 that got me into Kamchatka (no I haven't checked the exact quote, but anyone who knows, will get the gist).

europa universalis iii or smac
Th.. Wait, what's smac?

EU III though. Real Time Strat.. No, Strategy. I choose strategy. Since I'm not sure whether EU III, Napoleon Total War, Company of Heroes and Dawn of War all go into Real Time Strategy since they're fairly different games. Similar, but different.
Sid Meier's Alpha Centauri, if you like civ you might want to check it out

I think EU III and the Total War series are called "grand strategy" or something since they combine both real time and turn based. Don't quote me on that though.

I figured since i already have 114 hours into Civ V since it was released and 24 since i got EU3 last week, i could play them forever and not realize it.
Haven't played Civ. It's on my list, but I keep getting distracted. Got EU III in Steam sales, now I just want to keep playing. So if SMAC is anything like that, then I'll put it close to the top of my list.

Which is still another hundred or so hours off. lol

I think I could get by playing social turn-based games forever. Games like Kingdom of Loathing, Echo Bazaar, Urban Dead, games where you play with other people and don't have to put too much effort into the finer details.

Not incredibly exciting, sure, but none of them ever end, so I don't have to worry about beating them.

Shooter's are fun, but they all start to feel a little similar after a while.
I'd go with RPG, it's probably the most diverse and consistently entertaining genre.

oldschool 2d platformer

why not rpg?
- with rpg people mostly mean shallow story and enter-point-in-skilltree mechanics. usually games end up demanding alot of tedious grinding to achieve your goals. which leads to my point that its easier to fuck up an rpg game, while platformers can work aslong as you can get from A-B. If a platformer isnt working, its cause of a bug.
Also while rpgs require 3d enviroments, voice acting and better and better graphics, a platformer is still cool in 2d now just like over 30 years ago.

See, ask me this about 3 years ago or so, and I would have said platformers. But, given the previous platformer games out over that time (Which most of them I enjoyed like a giant metal propeller to the head.) I'm changing to RPG's.
But only on one condition - Give me a copy of Contact, damnit. I miss that game.

Action-Adventure. Because all the games that are hard to classify go their so that means the most variety.

I was going to say action-RPGs, but seeing as "RPG" seems to allow for sub-genres like "action" and "MMO", that's where I'd have to put my vote to allow myself the most options.

RPG, i love em. Also that'd include MMORPGs, so i'd be good on getting my MMO fix once every few months.

Though i would lament over RTS games...
