You can only play ONE genre forever, which is it.

Indie....because on most sites indie is considered its own genre and then I have games from every genre I could want ^^, if that's not allowed FPS

FPS.

Assuming this includes games like Deus Ex as well as the straightforward shooters I could live with that for a long time.

Is Stealth a game genre? If so that'll suit me just fine! Nothing better than confounding the guards by harming no one and still making off with the goods as they wave their fists and curse my name. Takes skill, you know? XD

If it means the genre will stay alive and more games will come out, then adventure all the way :)

Otherwise, probably RTS

MMORPG. I'm pretty sure when Guild Wars 2 comes out I'll be playing it tons.

RPG, or perhaps MMORPG, without a doubt. This is by far the genre with the most variety, and to me the most interesting. At best I can only play CoD multiplayer for four or five hours, but I've spent entire days powering through Dragon Age and WoW. I'm not saying that's a good thing, but it's still by far - for me - the most entertaining/varied/interesting genre on the market.

Luckily genres are vague :3 Almost anything can be labelled RPG these days.

I would say sandbox games, but that's a little broad, so I'm going to say RPGs. I like playing Fallout and the Elder Scrolls games. The Fable series (please, allow me to have Fable 3 as well) also manages to nudge my fun meter up a fair bit.

RPGs, and are ever more diverse. Games that are borderline RPGs can be good too. Take a look at borderlands its both a FPS and a RPG. Then you have MMORPGs. Then you have your diablos ect. So they are diverse and you get a lot of time out of each one.

Action RPG tends to keep my attention longer than any other genre, and Im generally the most excited about games coming from that genre, so I go with that.

I love RPGs, so I will choose RPGs. No matter if it's JRPGs or WRPGs, just so long as it's an RPG. ^^

When friends and I get together we tend to play video games so not picking a genre known for good multiplayer would be unhelpful. I think I'd chose RPG and hope that the breadth of content that is available in the genre (as others have already pointed out) would meet most of my gaming needs.
