You can test Starcraft 2:Heart of the Swarm NOW.

Several maps are available to play with the new Heart of the Swarm units.
Just start SC2, create a custom game, and type 'hots' in the map search box. A list of at least half a dozen maps are available. The graphics, stats, and even units available are in flux, but it's a fun peek at the future.

Isn't this just a custom map some guy made? It was feature on RockPaperShotgun a while back.

Anyway: meh. Wings of Liberty was a disappointment on all fronts apart from graphics, which were really quite lovely. I felt ripped off, frankly.
Plus, I don't like the idea of buying an expansion pack for the developers to deliver real balance changes, to actually have a race other than Terran be viable in Ladder multiplayer. Protoss and Zerg are broken, and I'm not paying for the patch to fix it.

If they provide the new units to all races without having to buy the expansion pack, I might reconsider. But they won't. So I won't.
