You can't pause the game?! What other games can't you pause...

Pretty much any online games since you're online with other peoples.

Uhh... I can't really think of any games I've played where you can't pause. Most of them you can pull up the main menu and it will act like the equivalent of pressing a dedicated pause button.

Just got Demon Souls and found out you can't pause. Does this have something to do with the online deal?

Also, any other games out there that don't allow you to pause? I really want to avoid any more like this if possible. I play video games in between doing other things and I don't like leaving them on...

Pausing breaks immersion. Why would you want to break immersion?

God that annoyed me so much. Not only couldn't you pause but sometimes monsters would show up in the middle of town where they don't belong.

You can actually pause Sacred2, they added the pause function in a patch, if your game is fully patched just press p for pause

Doom 3...well, you could pause in that game, but a lot of the time when you need to look up the code for something you have to look in your PDA.

Let me give an example: "Damn it, I need the code to this door, but I can't remember. Maybe this audio file will tell me the code to it. Let me just go into my PDA and...what the heck is that sound? Did my character just grunt in pain? Let me lower my PD-HOLY FUCK A ZOMBIE! QUICK KILL IT! AHH, I HAD MY FLASHLIGHT OUT! GO GO GO!" And then I would blast it with my Shotgun, but that is the best case scenario. I've gotten attacked by much more powerful things then just the plain old zombies and would often end up dead....and would have to restart the level due to my inability to save.

I was playing it on the 360 and the only patch I got was to fix a broken dungeon/quest. But that was when it first launched. I no longer have the same hdd (so I don't have the save) or even the game anymore. And I am not investing another 60 hours into it. Not when I already finished the Blind Guardian quest and enjoyed the reward lol.

It's only really online games, though my friend plays majoritively shooters and I find it funny when he doesn't realise it's offline, single player and he can pause it.

It bothers me when a game measures your playtime and doesn't stop when you pause. Why? Would that be sooooo hard to program?

I know the feeling. My save files often end up with stupid amounts of hours on them, because I often leave the game running while I go off to do something else as there was no save point, or something.

I can't think of too many games where it makes sense to not be able to pause... Sacred 2 maybe, sense it is focused on multi-player, but even then there should be an automatic port-to-safe-zone feature for when you gotta go pee.

Demon's Souls seems obvious, I'm surprised I hadn't heard of this earlier...
