My, didn't someone get out on the humorless side of bed this morning?
I guess I just can't stand instilling fear into people when there's plenty of other things to be afraid of, if you really want to be. Perhaps I was a bit crude in my post, and for that I apologize. Who knows what mind frame I was in when I wrote that.

At any rate, there's certainly one thing we can agree upon. Those 'bio-yogurts' really taste something god-awful.

Did anyone bring up High Fructose Corn Syrup? If not: High Fructose Corn Syrup. That stuff kills you too.

Too much of ANYTHING can kill you, even the foods we consider healthy. Why else do vegetarians look so pale and sickly, or those who only eat meat look red-flushed and flabby?

Trans fats are used as preservatives, which is unfortunate, since they were originally developed to be used as an industrial glue.

But all it was, was fear-mongering without the purpose.
My, didn't someone get out on the humorless side of bed this morning?

My point was...All of those things have been used as scare stories in the past to stop us eating certain things. I was going to go back to the spaghetti trees, but I thought that was perhaps too far.

Rat poison in Mars Bars was from the early 90's I believe when bars were injected with them. And I 'really' wouldn't be so cock-sure about American Beef and BSE. England was the only country that 'admitted' it had it, a lot of other countries had it and didn't 'fess up.

I still think that those bio-yogurts taste like maggots though.

(BTW; BSE, DDT, and others are still in the food chain...will take a lot longer than a few decades to get rid of their effects.)
If only England admitted to the presence of BSE, how do you know other have it? Furthermore, BSE isnt in the food chain to the same extent DDT is (long chain: dead cow meet hungry human).

MSG? You're worried about MSG? Let me tell you there is a far more dangerous substance in all the food you eat.

Allow me to introduce Dihydrogen Monoxide. This colourless, odourless, tasteless liquid is highly lethal in large doses. Hundreds of people every year are lost to it in what would otherwise seem innocent circumstances, perhaps even thousands. The number of actual casualties remains unknown. This terrifying chemical is not only found in food but in cleaning fluids, poisons, biotoxins, lakes and rivers. In short, everywhere. And you should be afraid.

This is the chemical which carved the Great Canyon, along with countless other 'natural' icons. Dihydrogen Monoxide is even present on Mars where it carved channels into the planet's surface which were at first attributed to little green men. But no! This both acid-and-alkali chemical persevered! It's name is now uttered with fear around the globe. Join the struggle.
NOOO! But I don't wanna die of Dihydrogen Monoxide poisoning! I bet it's all the monkey's fault! What's next, this H²O substance will be 72% of the planet's surface? God/Buddha/Me help us if that happens! I'm gonna go drown my sorrow in some nice cool water now... Thanks for the depression!

Besides, I'm more concerned with all the lead based products from China... How many lead teddy bears must I play/sleep with until my nose falls off (That's what happens, right?)? I mean, really, it's your own fault for shopping at Wal*Mart (When I worked there they called the Asterick a "squiggly" in the song we were forced to sing at close[Not kidding].... And there you go for corporate intelligence) without promptly asking the person holding the gun why he must cruelly make you do this.

EVERYTHING in high enough quantities is poison. MSG in the levels it would be in your jerky is perfectly safe, worse you'd ever get is a headache if you ate a pound or two of jerky at a time.

my Dr. Pepper has Phosphoric Acid, there's MSG in my chex mix, there's an unusually high level of magnesium in a banana i just ate

this is what your liver is for.

Oh, shit. you have encouraged me to read the ingredients. Thanks. As for your question, no I do not know of any other poisoned food. Definetely keeping a look out though. ( It was Wal-Mart? They tried to kill you for not buying their stuff. Next time, bring a gift card.)

Ah, conspiracy theories. Trust me, life is much easier when you look at the scientific facts instead of believing every paranoid website you bump into.

I fail to see why we're so afraid.
Monosodium Glutamate dissolves into Na+ and glutamate anions.
Sodium can be found in anything and the other is a naturally occurring amino acid, one of the building bricks of proteins.
In other words, every cell of your body has these in it. Why aren't we dead yet if it's that dangerous?
Dangerous chemicals are often more than the sum of their parts. Carbon monoxide for example. It's Carbon and Oxygen. Can't harm us, right?
Yes sure, but carbonmonoxide doesn't fall apart the second it touches water/saliva, instead it permanently binds to your bloodcells leaving no room for oxygen.
MSG falls apart right away in your mouth into two harmless (unless in extreme doses) components.

MSG will kill you, yes, but only if you eat a barrel-full in one go. Chances are, you've probably eaten plenty of food with MSG in it by this point in your life and I'm assuming you're not an organ-less vegetable. The only problems that could occur would be headaches if you were sensitive to the stuff and obesity because you eat a lot of the stuff.
