You ever liked a game that Yahtzee didn't?

Yahtzee actually has pretty poor taste in games and is very closed-minded about what he likes. Add to this that my favourite genres are RPGs and Strategy games, me and Yahtzee are often at odds about what's good.

However, agreeing with Yahtzee isn't mandatory to enjoy Zero Punctuation, so I don't really worry about it. If I ever meet him and get down to talking to him, then I'd argue such things with him, but until such a time I'll just enjoy his videos.

I really liked Mirror's Edge during the first playthrough, and I'm pretty certain he wasn't impressed with it.

Generally, he has good taste in games though. He likes innovation and substance over style.

Yes. Most obvious to me being Smash Bros. Brawl and Guitar Hero III. Is it clear that most of my game time is spent on multiplayer?
Same here. His SSBB review was pretty unfair to the game. There's a set of rules that make the game incredibly fun (SBR) regarding at least stages and such, and if you start playing a game like brawl not only with no idea how to play it but the wrong controller, then that's like starting up Super Mario 3 with a controller with about 50 buttons and not knowing which is jump. That review was definitely kind of unfair to the game (although if you go deep in to it or liked Melee, you'll notice it has huge flaws).
If I recall correctly he gave a less than impressive review because he was forced to go through lots of filler to get the decent characters which, seeing as the game is meant for multiplayer, that's a fair enough statement. As for the correct pad, isn't the wiimote the correct pad? If not, don't you think the game has been poorly made if it's not built around the pad that comes with the console? Or cheap that Ninty forces people to buy more products to get the best out of their games?

And how exactly do you not know how to play Brawl? Pretty standard isn't it. You choose character, jump around and beat others up.

Ummm... he reviewed the Fables (Loved em, 1 more than 2 BTW, though two was great). He did the thing about ... Infamous but he liked that game so that doesn't count. He ... no that's about it, except maybe Scribblenauts, that is a'ight in a strange and situational way.

I just have to say you all have terrible taste in games. Every complaint he makes is legitimate and liking mediocre crap means developers will keep releasing mediocre crap. The game design world needs more reviewers who tell it like it is, rather than just cashing the check and printing what the game publishers tell them to.

By the way I liked Oblivion :) He prefaces every RPG and Strategy game review telling us he doesn't like those kinds of games.

Whether or not you found the overall experience enjoyable is one thing, but I've never disagreed with his complaints of games even if I did like them.

I found Mirrors Edge quite fun myself. He brought up some decent points, but in the end the movement control and backstory made it a good game for me.
Same with whatever he said about practically any game really, you're not clones, you're not going to like the same things.

It's all about personal preference. There really is no such thing as "terrible taste."

I generally agree with most of the points he makes, but my standards are a lot different than his. Really what constitutes a good game for me is "it's fun" and "it has good replay value" and by "good replay value" I mean either A it has great multiplayer, B it has a large sandbox world that's actually fun to dick around in, or C it blends action with RPG elements in a manner that the RPG part doesn't majorly kill the "action" part. Extra points go to it if it does any combination of the three. Yahtzee probably looks at story as much if not more than he looks at gameplay, he prefers linearity to openness, he doesn't care about multiplayer so he doesn't factor it into his review, and overall his standards are much higher than mine. So naturally, yes.

I liked Oblivion, The Conduit, Soul Calibur IV, and The Force Unleashed (although admittedly mine was on ps3, not wii) and I loved Dead Space.

So yeah, quite a few.

Who doesn't love a game that Yahtzee hates? And i agree with the poster who said "a better question would be: do you hate a game Yahtzee likes?'

Well...duh! I mean Yahtzee has given positive reviews to three or four games out of the hundred and something games he has reviewed, so, yeah, I'm bound to like a game he doesn't like.

Erm, yeah.

Super Smash Bros. Brawl, Final Fantasy (as a series) and RTSs are where our opinions differ.
