You ever liked a game that Yahtzee didn't?

A few of them I disagreed with, but it's not up to him to make my decisions, so I don't really care

I've disagreed with Yahtzee quite a bit, MGS4, Rome:Total War, Assassin's Creed - All games I adored. However, there have been times where I've felt he was right on the money, jRPGs, GTA IV, Halo 3, Portal + Half Life.

Yahtzee is as he says: a reviewer by exception, he talks bad any game he reviews but then says whether he likes it, but sometimes its hard to even tell! If you know the game he's ripping to shreds well, then you understand every point he is making, but you yourself know these are tiny annoyances a lot of the time and don't distract you from your favorite game. Yes he has a strange taste but i love halo 3, and i agree with his video MOSTLY but he didn't bloody play the multiplayer! if he'd just looked at halo as he did with SSBB being 'primarily a multi-player game' then it would of been a lot better!

Yes. I'm not going to base my opinion of games on what he says. Sure, he may have good points (which the majority of his points are), but most of the time they aren't an impeding factor on the game. I also take into account other factors he won't have mentioned.

Gaming, and alot of other things, are opinion based. Reviews are supposed to point out factors that everyone can agree on, and weigh up the game, yet you still have to make the decision youself whether or not to buy. Yahtzee himself, in his reviews, seeks more to entertain (opinion!) than provide a proper review of the game. There is still, however, an element of a review in there.

IMO, Yahtzee just reviews them in a funny way. After his psychonauts review just got him even more f***ing hatemail, he just says what he thinks'll make people laugh. He doesn't do it with a few games though, maybe because if it's really worth getting then he tells you bout it.

Plus, It'd be pretty interesting to get a list of all the game Yahtzee actually likes. =D

Alot of the time...pretty much. All of Yahtzee's "reviews" are meant to bring out the worst of a game and to be one sided for the comedy.

I don't play many of the games he reviews and mostly I just watch Zero Punctuation for comedy value. With what I've played out of what he's reviewed in general I do agree with him although I tend to find different "problems" than he does.

He dubbed Mirrors Edge the worst game in existance (almost).
While the game is not perfect, I feel that it is indeed exaggurating. And I also like Halo.

I really liked mirrors edge, and brawl, so he can say what he wants about it.

Why shouldn't I? It's not like his opinion is ultimate or something. He's just a critic like, ummmm, thousands of other critics? Yes, he's famous and yes, he's funny, but he's not the only one. ("Ahem" Something Awful?)

As for games in question, he didn't like The World Ends with You all that much, but I loved it. He hates the Mario Kart series with a passion but I, along with my friends, enjoy their multiplayer. He thinks that Brawl is shit, but I enjoy it with my friends. So yes I have liked games he hasn't liked and vice versa.

Really liked Farcry 2, thought he was griping. He's got a weird opinion on sandbox games, where he loves some for the same reason he hates others. Gonna play Wolfenstein anyway, just cause I like Raven's shooters. But he did talk me out of Mercs 2. Not gonna say Bioshock, he amended that opinion.

But the worst was Mass Effect. He bitches that games don't have deep enough story, yet he says he feel asleep talking to people. I think it's more that most games don't have the story he's looking for, i.e. horror. But yeah, Mass Effect was one of the best games he reviewed, and he basically shit on it.

therefore, i dont take him seriously most of the time. and he does make some very good points, like brutal legend disguising as a single player rpg and not a rts game, a superb rts game mind u, but i felt violated when i realized this.

Well considering there's only been about 2/3 games I've seen him say were "just about OK" I'd say it's pretty likely people are going to like games he doesn't.
