So you play as a dude in an armored suit... To hop into an even bigger armored suit to shoot missiles and add to the T-bagging experience?
This is gold.
This is gold.
I think metal gear taught us how useful a bipedal tank could be. The obvious solution would be to have both legs AND tracks of some sort. Use the legs for getting over tough terrain and revert back to the tracks for battle.Richard A. Kiernan said:From the perspective of fun, games need more giant mechs. You're going to have to elaborate on that point.SmashLovesTitanQuest said:No, I don't think its OP, I just can't see it having any place in a competitive setting.erttheking said:Well, you did say that the mech was good for blowing stuff up but not for competitive play. I thought you meant that it was OP and apparently so did he.SmashLovesTitanQuest said:?Korten12 said:Well they aren't overpowered at all, as some gameplay was also released today along with the trailer that showed a Banshee taking out two Mantis, not at the same time, but shortly after destroying the first.
That has absolutely nothing to do with what I just said.

Actually, from what I've seen, general response from the competitive group of Halo players has been a resounding "yes, yes, oh god, take me 343, take me now".SmashLovesTitanQuest said:I don't really care if they are lore friendly or not. I care even less about their place in the God awful "RTS" that was Halo Wars. MECHS + DUBSTEP = EPIC WINZ AM I RITE GUYZ LOL
At least they brought Valhalla back. That might end up being the single best thing about Halo 4.
Hell this isn't even the first time we have had mechs in Halo, there was one in Wars, the Scarabs are mechs, one in Halo legends, the MJOLNIR Mk 1 - 3 were Mechs.
If we didn't have Mechs like the Mantis in 500 years, I would be dissapointed. I mean we already got this:

Sure it's has wheels and not legs, but in 500 years, it would be a lot more advanced.
This is just the first one we have actually had control of outside of an RTS.
Sure, if you want to blow shit up and shoot some dudes in the face you'll more than likely love the mechs, but if you're looking for something competitive, every piece of news on Halo 4 till now has probably turned you away from the game, and that includes this trailer.
A hover-tank could not hold its ground, due to a lack of friction. Gunfire would send it reeling.daveman247 said:I think metal gear taught us how useful a bipedal tank could be. Thats unless we could make some kind of hover thing
OT: Halo 4 is awesome, teabagging mechs are awesome. Looks good to me. Theres nothing better than a good old victory teabag.
I snickered.Lilani said:No, I've never wanted to T-bag an enemy, I'm not twelve.
Well, it seems they know their target demographic well enough.
Yay, I've been waiting on the latest edition of "Samey Battlesuit War Simulator!"
Is this the one with the guys in the suits?
...Maybe I should just leave this thread.
-Puts heavy focus on the campaign in Halo 4 more so then Bungie did before.Lionsfan said:I'm with Smash here. This doesn't really make the multiplayer look any better to me, and since that's all they're turning Halo into, I'm keeping my hopes low for this game
Um... Because they wanted to have 1 remake map in Halo 4 and decided on Valhalla, since all Halo games have at least one remake map. Also Halo: Reach was lazy because all of it's maps were in the game's SP, where as all of Halo 4 maps are made for Multiplayer specific.Dansen said:Why the hell did they just reskin vallhalla? I am all for visual re-imaginings and spiritual successors, but seriously? This type of lazy half assed attitude towards mapmaking is one of the things the pissed me off about Halo: Reach, I guess 343 is keeping the tradition going.
Also, the mech does look awesome.
I have to agree with you, there are not many Mechs in current videogames and the games that have them are usually pretty crappy.Hero in a half shell said:There's a Mantis in my pantis.
We need more Giant Mechs in videogames. Screw realism, let's have some fun.
Well most of the competetive halo players were in the same boat until a couple of days ago when this gameplay footage of a good player came out. Now the reaction seems to be between "its alright" and "YES YES Oh daddy YES !"SmashLovesTitanQuest said:I don't really care if they are lore friendly or not.
