This also coincides with my first timed playing ever.

Playing Sonic the Hegdgehog 1, at some point introduced me to the scariest, most panic inducing sound I've ever heard in a videogame.

Drowning.

I was too young to understand what the words meant, but at 3 am and having seen the game over screen for the fifth time that night...and copying dear old Dad.

"F@#k this. I'm going to bed. Mommy!"
I heard that. Labyrinth level i believe aswell. My first time was on sonic on the game gear. The Boss for the Jungle level was just f**k that.

Sly Racoon on the PS2 when I was about 9. For a kids game, the final boss, Clockwerk is unholy. After 2 weeks of on and off attempts,I just gave up.

GTA: Vice City, the mission on the second island when you have to drop bombs from an RC plane, took me 3 months to pass that mission.
this was horrible... luckily it was an optional side mission, after 2 months i quit trying.
Optional? You needed to finish it in order complete that particular story arc and move the main story line along.

Kingdom Hearts. After listening to Rikus speech for the tenth time (to this day I know the entire scene by heart, "THERE'S NO WAY YOU'RETAKINGKAIRISHEART!" so. many times.) I actually managed to take a substantial chunk of his health. As my hopes were raised and I saw an end to this dialog driven nightmare he promptly shouted "Welcome oblivion!" turned invincible, warped around the stage and flying towards me whilst attacking me and finished of the combo by causing pillars of unholy lightning to erupt from the ground....

I don't care if it would have been easier if I had only grinded a bit more. Riku is an asshole and whoever decided to make unskippable cutscenes need to be burned in a pit of never ending cheesy comments and extravagant hand gestures.
"The keyhole cannot be completed, so long as the princess still sleeps." I know that pain friend, he beat me countless times. I too could recite their lines from memory. I stopped playing for a couple months, forgot where I was started up and beat him. Unfortunately I skipped monstro so I didn't have double jump that allows you to jump over and glide to dodge his teleporting move.

Also Dissidia final fantasy, that last story chapter where all the Crystal enemies to fight go from level 101 to I think 110 chaos. Could not do it for the life of me. especially when they would not stagger from hitting my block then insta combo kill me. It makes me HATE them sooooo much.

Stormrise. Was so bad I returned it in the space of two weeks. It cost me £3 and was worth none of those pennies.

Star Wars Rogue Squadron for the Gamecube. It was just this one mission in the co-op mode. Escaping the Death Star II as the Millennium Falcon and a X-Wing. No matter who I played with, no matter which vehicle we chose, we would always fail. I realize that if just one person gets out then you win, but whoever plays as the Millennium Falcon gets screwed over by its slow speed and awful maneuverability. You can't even take things slow because there is a wall of fire speeding up behind you. Its just plain impossible. F**k that.

beat that mission easy. its not nearly as hard as you make it out to be. you just have to keep calm not push down the brake all the way and also boost on the straight aways but never push the button down all the way. its all about how fast you go the millenium falcon can take some pretty steep turns at high speeds you just need to be observant about the next turn and stay on the side farthest from the outside of the turn in order to make it.
Really? I mean it has been around five years since I last played it but I would always get stuck because the person piloting the X-Wing would boost all the way but the Millennium Falcon was just too big to slide through all those pipes and take all those twists and sharp turns. Maybe I'll try it again this upcoming holiday.

yeah you just need to pay extra attention and not ever brake completely or boost completely and you should make it through.

First Driver. You start locked in the parking garage and the only way to proceed is to pull off every stunt move. Learning curve like a brick wall, I got through it eventually but raged the entire time. As I remember at one point I pulled my unfortunate original controller out of the playstation and beat it with a steel toed boot until it was nothing but scattered components and a dangling cord...

Call of Juarez where you have to climb some weird rock mountain thing to get to the top (I can't remember why) and lasso a tree half way up. I could never figure out how to lasso it properly and it's one of those retarded checkpoint games, so every time I died (which was a lot of times) I had to replay the (what felt like) 45 minutes prior, EVERY SINGLE TIME. I never played it again.

The glitch that made the Fire Temple in Zelda: Ocarina of Time impossible to finish. Gave up on the game for about a year after having to restart!

I hit Ornstein and Smough in Dark Souls right about the time that Skyrim came out.

So yeah, I need a few hundred hours being a hero and getting my confidence back in Skyrim before I take the Dark Souls plunge again.
Just finished that fight yesterday. Did it pretty cheaply, retreating ALL the time at the outside of the pillars, blocking Smough with them and hitting Ornstein with a Crystal Halbard whenever I could, even though he's weak to fire. After he died, which happened after me dying 10 times or something, Smough is pretty easy. All he does is slam the ground. Use the lightspear if you have it against Smough.

The first F@$* THIS!!! moment i can remember was back on The legend of zelda: Majoras Mask for N64. Trying to get your horse to jump over a large steel fence into the Gorman Ranch at an angle (at the time not realizing it an impossible jump), i tried over and over and over, until i literaly yelled, "alright! F*** this sh*t!!!!!"
"It doensn't go at an angle!"

Cookie for reference. :p

OT: Can't say I really remember my first, but probably the earliest one I can remember was Sonic 06. After beating Sonic's story, I tried out Silver and Shadow's stories. Didn't like either of them. I stopped playing right when I got past that stupid ball puzzle at the end of one of Silver's levels.

Spiderman 2 for PC. Almost killed my entire love for everything Spidey.
I love that game! Which part?
I hope you are thinking of the excellent one on the consoles...

But the craptacular PC version had

1) Glowing Spider Icons that are the only things you can swing on.

2) The 'world map' is corridored by buildings.

3) The boss fight against Mysterio had such a horrible camera angle, I want to find a PC version of this game, just to destroy the disc.

I can't remember any early ones. A recent one that comes to mind is Modern Warfare 2's Favela mission on Veteran. I swear there are not that many grenades in existence.

We've all hit a point in a game where we just give up, something we just can't accept anymore, sometimes in otherwise perfectly good games, but most of the time in just plain awful games.

To me it was the very first TMNT game on the C-64 over 20 years ago, I got the swimming level, and after many many tries and many restarts (this was before the age of saves and level check points, you failed you started from the very beginning of the game) I just quit. I never saw past the 2nd or 3rd level of a game I was very excited about (big TMNT fan when I was 10) and saved for months to buy.

What was the first "oh F- This!" moment you ever had in gaming?
Honestly, it could have been that very same game for me - I remember being VERY frustrated by TMNT on the C64.

For me though it was the Bard's Tale game series. I was probably under 12 when I played most of those games and they could get *tough* at certain points, to the point where I think I appreciate the games a lot more now than I did then. :D

I honestly can't remember my first one. Maybe something like Megaman 64 (Legends.) The earliest one I can remember was Xenosaga Ep 1. Every 2 enemies was a fucking boss battle and I didn't even make it a 10th of the way into the game before it got too hard I said "Fuck This Shit!"

Returned to it about a month later and figured out I completely didn't understand the leveling and experience systems in place the first time through. Then I pwned the game like it was my job.

Demons and Dark Souls, The Bourne Conspiracy, the final boss on Turok (2008), Ninja Gaiden for the Xbox Ninety-Nine Nights (not in a difficulty way, more of a "holy shit this game is boring" way)
Oh my god Turok!

That boss level...

(If I knew how to put the "Oh God" meme face, I would.)

That took me 6 months... sweet Jesus!

Bad memory!

Trying to tow-cable an AT-AT.

Still can't do it on a lot of Star Wars games.
This. I ended up just crashing into the first AT AT I saw until it died in Rogue Squadron, of course that took all my extra lives and then of course there was another one right around the corner =_=, really need to go back and play that game again to see if those bits are still as much of a pain in the ass as I remember.
