I'd wish for total shape-shifting abilities (If I wanted to survive a nuclear blast turn into a cockroach, if I wanted to survive a bullet turn into a kevlar vest, if I wanted to live forever just change shape to a younger version of myself)
just letting you kno the theory of a cock roach surviving a nuclear blast is a myth. the fact is that they could survive the radiation caused after...sorry for being a nerd
Not being as complex as a mammal all insects could survive more radiation exposure, for short exposure periods the results seem dramatic with insects being able to survive as much as 5 times the level of exposure that humans could, interestingly roaches appear near the bottom of the list of "survivors" among the bugs with some other common bugs being able to survive quite a bit more. Long term exposure will however kill them just as dead. It doesn't take a whole lot if you never give the body a chance to heal form the injuries caused by the radiation.
Perhaps, but he said blast, not fallout. Cockroaches, like just about everything else, would be obliterated at the epicentre of a nuclear detonation.

There was no arguing that. I was arguing the response that furthered the myth that some animals are simply immune to high levels of radiation, and their would be a lot of fallout containing a lot of radioactive material thrown about. Fallout being radioactive after all, there would be fairly high levels of radiation in the are for a very long time unless something was done to clean it up (as in what was done at Chernobyl).

Besides a man survived the first nuke used at Hiroshima a mere 336ft from the center of the blast. Well as measured from where the center would have been on the ground since it was an air-blast. I think if a person can survive that close and some buildings can remain standing a hundred feet away then maybe just maybe a lucky insect could survive a bit closer then that person could. Modern weapons aside of course as there is a big difference between a 15 kiloton blast and a 1.5 megaton blast.

What, are you now the wish king, making up wish laws at your every whim?
Probably wished for the powers to do so. Before there were regulations put in place by him to stop others doing so, of course. Sneaky bugger.

I would like a button which I could press and it would make EVERYBODY happy for exactly one hour. Also, it can never break etc.
You get good karma points ;]

I wish I was omnipotent. Hah.

And yes, I fully understand that this may cause some paradoxes. To which I say... hey, look, a monkey playing the trombone!

That I would be given a greater chance of succeeding in my endeavors. Eg. With a coin toss to decide between Subway or Pizza, I get a 75% chance of winning. Or get a 75% chance of winning the lottery. Or trying to revise, that the chance I actually learn is greater. I wouldn't ask for total accomplishment, as without failure there is no moving forward. And I would become a presumptuous idiot.

full telekinesis
screw reading minds, i'd end up either a babling lunatic, simpering empathist, or hopeless cynic. moving objects with ones mind could allow you to, operate video cameras at considerable distance, get the remote, let the dog out, work a job at any fast food restaurant with no effort, scratch that hard to reach spot on your back. essentially telekinesis would allow me to do any task i desired with out actually trying.

alternatively: the ability to grant wishes to others when such wishes would not backfire against me. yes, i wish to be the fairy godfather.

I'd have a hard time choosing between this and mind manipulating powers.
