There is no such thing as "short katanas". Jap swords scale up tanto<wakishazi<katana<daichi. Also they're hopelessly impractical.

I look 100% better in Renaissance clothing than I do in modern clothing.

I'd personally go for a long, black trenchcoat, black pants, a grey t-shirt, and plenty of weapons hidden in the coat, for a kind of night assassin look, while still avoiding the emo look, as I'd have a grin and a glint in my eye most of the time.
