I will one day. I am actually more interested in the Special features than watching the movie over and over again.

Nope.

Our TV doesn't support 3D, and that's the only reason either myself or my husband ever want to see it again.

The story was bland, painfully predictable, and while I got a bit of a kick when I saw it (it's not a bad movie, just a little boring because you can see every "twist" coming 40 mins before it happens) I have no interest in feeding James Cameron's pockets over it.

Why would I want to get Avatar when I already have the far superior District 9 on blu-ray?

although I get the feeling that one or more of my friends and/or family is going to at least rent it out.

Nah, I'm not getting it. For the following reasons:

1. I didn't like Avatar
2. The DVD is expensive compared to getting it from Netflix
3. I don't like having DVDs wasting space in my house, no matter what movie it is.

It always reminds me of Lord Of The Rings. I disliked the first one and when I told people this the first things they said was always "yeah, but have you read the book?" I hadn't, but in my view a text should be able to stand on its own and not rely on its literary counterpart to prop it up.

Likewise with Avatar I've heard people didn't like it and the first question to them was always "yeah, but did you see it in 3D?" Now I know it was designed to be in 3D, so in essence you aren't getting the film as it was intended if you don't see it in 3D. But I think that if a film needs 3D to make it good then you have to question how good it actually is. If the 3D is such an important part of the film then I won't get it on DVD, at least until I can get it at knock down price in a year or two. Why pay £15 for a new film when I could get the Rocky box set for the same price?

Yeah I'd say give it a few months, then get your greasy mitts on the blu-ray.
Why a few months? I have pre-ordered the Blu-ray/DVD Steelbook Edition

Cause I'm a sucker for special editions unfortunately

The effects were awesome, the sound was fantastic, but considering I just have a lowly little 17", I shan't be buying this. It was good in the theatre, but the film on a whole had an uncreative plot, a mediocre script and bland acting. I'm glad I saw it in 3D at the theatre - it was quite an experience - but I don't feel the need to see it again for a while.

No, I'll probably just rent it and that's it. I haven't caught onto the Avatar craze yet. I haven't seen it but I'm not dying to either.
