Pay off some of my mortgage of course.
What a great day that would be, making my life more bearable.

When is he going to deposit it to my account? :p

For sake of argument, say it's deposited immediately once he chose you to win.

If you're asking when in real life...don't hold your breath.

Jack Thompson. Don't ask how or why. For all you know, he suffered a bout of temporary insanity (well, more than usual), held a random drawing, and you were the lucky winner. Regardless of the reason, you now have this money, and he asks what you are going to do with it.

So, what do you do? Give it to charity? Intentionally piss him off and buy video games? Invest? Refuse it? The choice is yours, and you're limited only by your imagination.

As for me, I would donate most of it to Child's Play, just to see his face when he sees his money go to buy video games for kids (of course, I'm assuming he doesn't know that CP donates age appropriate video games).

So, let's hear your ideas?
I like that idea, but I would also keep some for buying videogames for myself, and use it to pay off some of my college loans,

Well, after thinking for a bit, my answer would probably be $10,000 to Child's Play (under Jack Thompson's name, obviously), $20,000 for school, $5000 in a mutual fund, and $15,000 for random expenses/stuff I want (which would probably end up being mostly Spice & Wolf stuff).

I'd take a portion of it to spend on things- some new games, a really nice computer for myself and my girlfriend, that kind of thing- some in the bank, and the rest would be invested.

Smokables and various smoking apparatus.
Rent + bills for a year.
A couple of games and some DLC.
Find something cool to do with rest.

I would use it to pay off my college debts and my car. After that, I would use it to buy materials for a couple of experiments I want to try.

Nice gaming PC, some super awesome motorbike gear, the helmet I wanted but is too expensive for me to afford.

Then buy a new 125cc bike. Maybe a nice Aprillia.

Be the most snobbiest PC gamer there is that even PC snobs with 2 gtx 480 cards+i7 processors would rage at me.

But realistically I would invest (through interest since it is the safest way I can think of) it like other people have mentioned.

It's $50000. Who cares that it was given to me by someone I despise. I'm gonna invest it.
I have to ask: Stocks or mutual funds?
A bit of both, prolly 40/60 with the 60% going into stocks. My portfolio is already decent. Extra money to invest with would only strengthen it.

Or just buy/build a supercomputer.

I wasn't planning on holding my breath.
Also not playing any lotteries, because that has about the same chance of happening :p

If I recall correctly, I think you have a better chance of being struck by lightning.

Now *that* my luck just might get me! :D
Luckily it's quite survivable, although I hear there are usually forever lasting symptoms.
I recall a forest ranger got hit 6 separate times throughout many years. Survived them all!

$50,000?

Damn...I'm torn between the fun thing and the sensible thing. The fun thing would be to open up my own game studio and release games on XBLA, PSN, Steam, etc. Or at least try to. If I fail and end up poor it would have at least been a fun way to go.

The sensible way would be to buy a house somewhere, go to a trade school and get a life going. This is also the category in which I toss a ton of money at Amazon so as to rebuild my SNES collection and start up a Sega one.
