You have between half an hour and 10 minutes to get out of your now flaming hometown/city.

id simply stand up and announce "Releasing Control Art Restriction Systems three...two...one, approval of Situation A recognized. Commencing the Cromwell invocation. Ability restrictions lifted for limited use until the enemy has been rendered silent." the rest is self explanatory

I wouldn't be able to get out in that time. Traffic would build too quick, everyone would be going bonkers and possibly joining in. I can't get out on foot in that time and there's no other transport available. Oh, I'd try, but I'd probably get shot or run over in no time.
I'd probably run up the main road. There's far more room and when I get out there's a lot of trees and fields between the buildings. If I felt confident, I could go up the road and go into the villages or hide under one of the bridges as nothing could really get down there or break the bridge. But still, half an hour? Pushing it.
Alternatively, get into town. Plenty of secure areas, but its like the eye of the storm.

I wold get on my bike and leave, it's not that far to the edge of the city. If I had to, I would ditch my bike and run along the farmland. It would be pretty easy for me.

I'd grab my only weapons (Two bokken and a damn BB Gun :/), grab as much canned food/bottles of water as I can fit into a bag in 5 minutes, and then take my dog and get the hell out of there via the traintracks behind my house.
Train tracks are safe, right?

Well let's see, I can't get on a planet because the airport is way outside of the city. I can't go by car because the streets will probably be full. I can't run because the fire will probably eat me alive. What's left to do? Build a pool in 20 minutes then spend the next 10 finding scuba diving equipment.

Well if it is just my city not my entire lake area I would jump in the lake and swim across. (You never stated when this would happen). If it was my entire lake area I'm screwed since the only way out is across the bridge and that would have been destroyed by then.

Heh, I dont even live in a town, I'm as rural as fuck. I'd get a beer and watch the fireworks from the top of my hill :)

I love it up here in Alaska, they're actually insanely intelligent as far as weapon laws are concerned. You don't even need a concealed carry license.
Hmm.....How much is property going for in Alaska?

The NY "Assault Weapons" Ban is absolute shenanigans.
Yeah, Mayor Bloomberg is a right proper cocksucker. Any time I read an article about his shenanigans I always end up doing a /facepalm.

Depends on where you want to live in Alaska. Housing in general is really expensive up here, but everynow and then you can get something reasonable that doesn't cost over 200k.

Since I dont technically live in my homecity I would sit back and watch the carnage. If I was in toen at the time though I could walk for 10 minutes in any direction and problably reach countryside.

I wouldn't. Suburban Chicago can be considered one huge city.
However, if all I had to do was cross a city line, then I'd either walk, run, bike, or drive the mile to where Naperville begins or where Oswego begins.

Rural town... pick a direction and walk that way for two minutes and viola, your out of town. OK, maybe not two minutes. It might really take five.

Apparently a lot of Escapists live in rural areas.

That explains so much.

I, too, live in a rural area where it would not be difficult to escape nearly anything. Cloverfield monster? We can see it coming for miles in every direction. Aliens from Alien? We have enough gun nuts to take out a small nation.

I also happen to live on the outskirts, mere blocks from the 'You're exiting Coos Bay' sign. The only downside being that there are maybe two true exits out of this town.

Considering I live right on the edge of my hometown, I'd just walk a block to the east, set up a lawn chair in the next town, and then proceed to sit and watch my former place of residence go to hell.
