Okay, I totally did come here from an article on cracked.com and came up with the idea for this thread.

So, in case the title of this thread isn't enough explaination, you, and only you, have the power to cut one state out of the union. Once cut, all people, resources, businesses, etc. cannot cross the border between that state and the rest of the U.S.

An example would be as follows:

If you cut off Alaska, all Alaskan people would no longer be u.s. citizens. All exports from the state to the u.s. would stop and all imports into the state from the U.S. will stop. All businesses and corporations with their headquarters inside Alaska will be ousted from the rest of the U.S. (this is just an example, I do not want to oust Alaska as a state. I would most likely oust some southern state, but thats my own opinion.)

So who would you oust from the union?

Arizona. Bonus points if we can gift the state to Mexico, just for the joy of watching all those racist twits freak out when they realize that they live in Mexico now, and desperately try to illegally immigrate back to the US.

First off, just as a grammar jerk, you should capital State. A State refers to one of the 50 States of the USA, while a state refers to, among other things, a territory controlled by a government. The USA is a state, while it has States within it's borders.

On Topic: I'd probably throw out Texas, just so I can move out of this State and go somewhere better. Also, I like Aris' idea a lot. That would be my second vote. I always love giving a good jab to racial people.

I've always felt like Alaska shouldn't be part of the US

It's just that there's all that Canada between Alaska and the rest of the states

it bugs me.

I'd be a dick and say Kansas

That way, all the other 49 states surround it, making Kansas unable to do anything at all!

It's foolproof!

Texas represents one of the largest single collections of natural resources, industry, and high technology development in the entire country. I wouldn't cast it aside lightly, regardless of what you guys think of its residents.

California is just as bad, and Alaska, while not quite as important as the previous two, is quite valuable nonetheless.

I'll have to go with Mississippi. Louisiana, Alabama, Maine, New Jersey, Utah, and Nevada were also considered.

Why are people hating on Texas? Just because the majority of Texas has conservative views...
No. Idaho is far more conservative. If people where hating on Conservatives, they would hating on Idaho. A lot of Texans just have an arrogance about them that a lot of people don't like.

I live near Texas, I border it at Louisiana. I am planning on enrolling in a university there in a few years. I've never met an arrogant Texan, only proud Texans. The arrogant ones are the politicians that nobody in Texas really cares about.
Then they should have elected someone else. "They just elected the arrogant pricks that makes it ok."

You could say that about nearly every state in the union, as well as the country itself, and just about every country that's ever had a system that allows people to vote.

On topic, I'd go with New Jersey. Having lived there for three years, the people as a rule are just dicks.

New Jersey. Or Wisconsin.

One because I'm from MN, the other for the benefit of the human race.

Only to strangers.

I'm gonna go with Colorado, because they're they're the least obese state. Also, they're right in the middle of the country, which would be neat.
