speaking of somthing somwhat unrelated

In Mass effect 3 I kind of want shepard to have some kind of breakdown...or you know at least actually cry

becuase it would make him/her (her) more human and while I like shepard he/she just seems a little ok about the whole "universe on your shoulders" thing

Joker to the rescue lol

you get to play as him throughout the game :D you get no biotic powers, youre only strong enough to carry one weapon, you cant run, have no shields and low health, and you are very sarcastic.

Wow.. really? Okay, then what SHOULD happen?
You SHOULD get old school Rick Rolled.

And they should make your next play through 8 bit as well.

Wow, there are people complaining about that?
Seriously, the only options for the plot to continue with Shepard dead would be:

- Resurrect him/her AGAIN, which would really devalue his/her resurrection because apparently, they can just do it over and over again.
- Introduce a new main character, which would suck for all those who keps Shepard alive. Also, I mean it's her/his story, not that of someone else, and Shep has already been kind of built up to that "Saviour of the Galaxy" character.

I think the ability to die added weight to the second game. And if you want to continue, you have to be alive, no doubt.

That's what I just said. What is the point of having such major choices if they just force you to go with their cannon, especially when you making your own cannon has been a big selling point of Bioware games, or at least the Mass Effect series.
You can still import a game, just not if you killed of Shepard himself.
Writting an entire new character just for the very few that actually managed to get him killed would be a little much. It's not like there would be many that could switch in for him. Only Kaidan/Ashley, Wrex, Liara and Joker would be left. Joker is in no condition to fight and apart from the Normandy crew noone knows about/believes in reapers.

If you didn't get him killed you will still have all your decisions influencing the last game.

What should happen: same as in Chrono Trigger where the game goes on without Chrono. I don't see anything special about Shepard. Joker could take the lead, not as a bullet-head meat-sponge, but the CO of the team. The dialouge options would be voiced by whichever active party member was most appropriate for the line. All that would be required would be about twice as many lines of voice acting - oh wait, thats why. Yeah, RPGs just aren't the same with voice acting.
so, getting him back is optional but still possible? XD

I say you take over as Garrus.

Then some shit goes down, maybe some of it having to do with traveling in space or something. Probably you'd shoot a gun a few times and then at the end of it all you win a racecar.

Also, just because it hasn't been said enough: BioWare said you can't do that. You have to start a new file.

What happens? Game loads... then just plays a cut scene showing the universe getting owned by reapers?

Special 'shortest game ever' achievement received?

You play as JOKER in a suped up battle suit?

Nothin' but red hot Krogan pr0n?

(Edit: Officially this won't be allowed, but what SHOULD happen if you continued the story from that point?)
I don't know... i kind of like the idea of an achievement for uploading a dead shepard... it'd be a cool easter egg... maybe get a little cimimatic of the reapers distroying all life as we know it... a critical mission failure, BING, Achievement, then back to the main menu... it'd make me run a dead shepard save... LOL.

That's..... incredibly stupid.
No its not. What's the point in choices if nothing sticks? Especially if that choice leads to the death of the main character no less. You have to be the world's laziest player to kill him off anyway.

They said before ME2 was released, so its not like people haven't had enough time to try it with him alive.

That's what I just said. What is the point of having such major choices if they just force you to go with their cannon, especially when you making your own cannon has been a big selling point of Bioware games, or at least the Mass Effect series.
It's "canon", not "cannon".

...and they're not forcing you into anything. If your Shepard died, the story was over. In your canon, the Trilogy become a Pair. No forcing involved.

Of course you can only import if Shepard's alive. How can ME3 have a story without the main character? The Reapers arrive, everyone dies. The end.

Yeah, but instead of ascending mount doom to get the whatzit, you hold Tim threateningly over the surface of his favorite glowing sun 'till he agrees to spend a bazillion dollars again. The mental image makes me happy. Although I am not sure I would go through with it, just might drop him. See what his terminal velocity is when he hits the surface.
