So my question is, why don't we start picking apart the entertainment of this country's older psychos. People like that sick fuck who kept those women chained up in the basement, that cop who wanted to kill & eat his wife's friends, or that guy in the white house who orders drone assassinations on his own citizens.

I don't know about the rest of my generation, but I'm already biased enough when it comes to old people as is. The older you are, the more likely I think you're a tool. Particularly if you're male, white and wealthy. Your generation has raped the world of it's natural resources, gone to war countless times and continue to influence politics with your bigoted, outdated views.

So maybe I don't need to start hating on their forms of entertainment as well.

....I'm guessing you're pretty young. The previous generation didn't "rape the world" of it's natural resources, that's been going on since the dawn of time, and if you're on the Internet, you've benefited from the "raping". Unless you don't have a phone/tv/computer/etc.

Second, war has always been a part of history. Always. Claiming that the preceding generation has gone to war more times that others is laughable.

Finally, in about 40-50 years, when *we're* in charge, the young people are going to be complaining about our outdated views and why don't we just stop influencing politics, we're so bigoted yada yada yada.

1. Electronics are not actually good for the environment. Neither their production nor waste. So every computer of any kindd is raping the environment.

2. Automation means nothing. true automation is not only stupid, but close to impossible due to cost. Its like an expensive RC toy. Even then, war includes loss of human life, civilian life.

This generation will find excuses for war, just like all generations do. It is inevitable.

3. We can't be different from the other generations. Every generation is roughly the same, and they always believe they are the correct ones. A repeat is inevitable, and has proven to be the case.

4. I am talking about the arguments over how the "old" people are being mean to the poor "defenseless"
young people. There is no such thing, its the same thing that has been going on since there have been humans. There is no plot against the "young" people. Its just the market being the market.

1. No. there is raping and there is using. different things. Not all electronics are bad. Computers (the traditional sense) produce no waste. They consume eldectricity, that we create wastfully, but if we were to, say, use atomic energy, there would be 0 environmental impact.

2. Automation is our salvation. Thats the only way humans can atually end up all enjoying life and not only those on top. War automation saves lives at the expense of resources. it is a choice between those two and which you value more.
All lives are civilians, military people are same civilians. Noone is born military.

1. Big electrical footprint. Rare metal mines are very harmful to the environment. The third world factories aren't any better. The production of electronics isn't as clean as you think it is.

2. War machines still kill and destroy livelihoods. Its only the soldier that lives, and only the skilled ones like pilots. Training is expensive, and time consuming. It is not to save lives, but to save money and time training a new recruit. Archers were the best in the world, but took a lifetime of training to get there. Guns only took 2 weeks to replace a dead soldier.

3. The generations have the same issues. It is human nature, and it is eternal. The setting in which they lived matters very little. Its the same war waging, selfish, and greedy humans from before. No better, no worse.

1. Electrical footprint? thats not a problem of the electricity is not made with oil and coal. Besides, modern electronics take relatively very little electricity. you could run your computer on 24/7 and you would still use less electricity than it costs for you to light up the bulbs at the evening. Over 50% of household electricity is in fact consumed by a fridge.
I do not buy electronics that are built in third world factories. I did state this before too.

2. Training is expensive, yet they choose to send soldiers in with lack of materials because we can always send mroe soldiers? current military tradition seems to lean towards "lives are cheaper" policy. there are manyi nventions we could use to save lives and moeny invested into them. we dont. Like i said, its a dilemma of what you value more, money or lives.
