Motion blur? I'm sorry, but I can't think of a single game in my huge library that has motion blur.
Is your entire library on a Gameboy?

EDIT; Now that I think of the it even the Gameboy had its own kind of motion blur.

OT:

I am not fond of the trend for multiplayer being shoved into everything and I am especially not fond of this new idea of tying it into the single player.
Had no idea it was YOU till I read the post, and I was fully prepared to give it the 'best response to troll' award. Don't worry, you still get it, the situation is just more understandable now.

OP:

Trends I hate about current gaming? That's an easy question. That's a REALLY easy:

1. The trend for publishers (not developers, I think they have a lot less say recently then we think) to try and grab as much of the Call of Duty fanbase as possible, not realizing they're in fact alienating EVERYONE ELSE. Lookin' at you Capcom and that DREADED QUOTE

2. Lack of colors. Fable II/III, Ninja Gaiden 2, Halo 3, Bayonetta, and Banjo Kazooie are some of my favorite titles this gen (favorite =\= best, remember) as far as the PS3 and Xbox 360 go.

3. (the most important one to hate) The gaming community just keeps FEEDING these thoughts to publishers. You want CoD games to stop selling, burn out, and get away from publisher's attention? Stop buying it. And stop buying their games when they say that. You want less games with grizzled, macho military haircuts? Don't buy a game with one of "those" protagonists. Better yet, if a game is just plain grey, and it doesn't aid the atmosphere ala Fallout 3, then just don't buy it. In other words, stop being so eager to give the gaming community your wallet. I have plenty of games from last gen to catch up till they get their act together. And my Wii hasn't let me down yet! To give credit though, neither has XBLA or PSN.

Brown, Gray, and Cover.
The three worst things about games today.

Some games try to mix things up by throwing some green or maybe a little blue, but it doesn't help. I can't wait for gaming to move the fuck on from this.

Trust me - without at least saying "bot MIA" once in a while, you're never going to win a single game of League.

I couldn't care less. That game sucks bad enough without the asshole community. The fact that they won't let someone who just got the game learn how the fuck it works before being assholes just makes it worse. At least in CoD and BF3 you get a chance of figuring out which end of the gun kills people before they start acting like dicks...

Besides I don't play to win. I just don't see the point in taking games seriously, and I'd rather laugh my ass off at physics bugs while losing 0-12 than spend hours upon hours practicing a meaningless activity just so I can brag about a meaningless number to meaningless idiots on a meaningless gaming forum.
Who pissed in your cereal this morning?

If the game isn't your kind of game, then don't play it. Don't screw over people who want to do good because you think its more fun to be a jackwagon. Doing good is actually beneficial (yea go figure) because you get more IP points to spend on runes and characters. Also the fact that its a team based game and the objective is to destroy the enemy summoner portal and not be a complete moron....so there's that.

"I don't play to win, I play to have fun" Guess what genius? I can play to win AND HAVE FUN DOING SO because my brain can comprehend more than one function at a time. Some people find winning FUN. I know its incredible.

Also, I've never seen bragging on the League forums ever. I've seen complaining, but never bragging. Also nobody I've ever known who plays it plays it to brag about it. And don't all people who do good in ANY game brag about it? Its not some mutually exclusive thing to Mobas.\

People like you don't help the community either.

Oh boy here we go....

First, I used caps lock to give emphasis on the fact that winning and having fun is all perspective, and people's opinion on it differs. Making a generalization as stupid as "winning and fun are 2 separate things that can never happen together" is going to get you some criticism, I'm sorry.

Secondly, I've never swore at anyone over League of Legends, but thanks for making another stupid generalization based on nothing but your own contempt for the game. In fact, I'm one of the people that encourages new players, and tells the trolls to shut up and leave them alone. But you OBVIOUSLY know me more than my friends and family, so I might just be talking out of my ass here. You can learn the game mechanics from playing rounds of battles versus A.I and from reading about it on the internet also. Joining a game against people and having no clue what to do isnt helping you learn the game. As a competitive game it does have a learning curve.

I've had the game installed since February, buddy, I'm not as fanatical about it as you think I am. If you're going to call everyone in the community assholes, and then use any criticism against such a stupid generalization as proof that everyone is an asshole, then you're probably the worst person at arguing I've ever met on the internet.

You played the game for 20 minutes, and you think that makes you an expert on everyone who plays it? I am honestly confused why you think you have such omnipotence to think that. But as you clearly have no desire to do anything but go "see! he doesn't agree with me! therefore he is why the community is fucking terrible!" then I think I'm done talking to you.

Everyone, please, ignore him. Don't feed his irrational anger.

You can turn off achievement notifications. For all intents and purposes, that's the same thing.

Scaling by Level, not by Area, Skill or Legend.

Bethesda games are mainly guilty of this. In Oblivion and Fallout 3 if I got a really good weapon, I could stroll through the rest of the game one-hitting everything. All challenge went out the window because it scaled by my level. Oblivion can give you Umbra at Level 1, whoop, don't need armor or anything now, just strike first! Fallout 3 (GOTy) gave me the Double Barrel Shotgun, which uses very common ammunition, and is insanely powerful. Click, Click, BOOM. And everything is dead. Breezed through the game after that.

Meanwhile, in New Vegas, the Courier runs from a family of Deathclaws, fumbling with her hand-loaded Ammunition and her Scoped Hunting Rifle, unable to get a proper shot in at any Deathclaw chasing her without being ripped to shreds. She pulls out her Revolver, praying it will do the trick, and soon she is naught but Carrion for the Birds. Then she decides to give that area a miss until she has some better ordinance, taking a detour with the caravans.

Before coming back to dish out some sweet justice with an Anti-Materiel Rifle. B|

I felt like more of a Badass in New Vegas because of it, and enjoyed New Vegas that much more, because there would be set-level enemies in areas, and leveled enemies in others. Coming back to an area that had given you so much grief at a higher level with better equipment, and blasting everything away just felt so good.

Short of turning off the Steam overlay you can't. I like the Steam overlay though. And the option to turn off the Steam overlay isn't there for non-steam games. Games that do let me turn off the notifications get a big plus but they are few and far between.

So much this. It's one of the many reasons why I gave up on Halo ODST. On top of the levels alternating between irritating and boring, half of them were fetch quests in pitch dark. So on top of hardly being able to see anyway because of the dark, when I get shot, my screen turns progressively darker and darker red, so I can see even less. So annoying.
You do know that you had a night vision mode that also highlighted enemies, right?
Of course. Still didn't particularly help, though.

NO FUCKING SHIT! I could have sworn I posted that I quit, uninstalled and haven't touched it again after just thirty minutes. but I suppose you're too busy spouting off random shit and acting like an arse to bother reading fully.

Matter of fact, let me do a bit of digging...

...Aha!

I do believe that's me saying I barely played one match, left, and haven't looked back. But just in case you can't see it:

Great job at reading. I'm sure your English teachers looooved you back in school.

Next time you spout off like this take the time to read a bit. Get context. Make sure you don't look like an idiot by saying someone didn't do something they said they did one page prior.

Doing good is actually beneficial (yea go figure) because you get more IP points to spend on runes and characters.
Whoop-de-fuckin'-do. Like I said I couldn't care less, the game sucks and the community is full of assholes so I stopped playing after half an hour.

Even if I did play, though, I'd have one or two heroes I played and a bank of useless IP after having gotten every rune on offer for them. I don't hop around very much in games, I latch onto one class and play the hell out of it. So I still wouldn't give a shit.

"I don't play to win, I play to have fun" Guess what genius? I can play to win AND HAVE FUN DOING SO because my brain can comprehend more than one function at a time. Some people find winning FUN. I know its incredible.
Seems you're the one that used piss instead of milk in their corn flakes. Good job proving my point about the LoL community being full of pricks though, now I can just quote your post, point at it, and be like "This is why I didn't try to get good in LoL. This is why I quit after 20 minutes. This is why I say MOBA games suck.".

So I suppose I can thank you for that.

Also, I've never seen bragging on the League forums ever. I've seen complaining, but never bragging. Also nobody I've ever known who plays it plays it to brag about it. And don't all people who do good in ANY game brag about it? Its not some mutually exclusive thing to Mobas.
Why else take the game so seriously that someone who tells their team before the match even starts that they just got the game and need to be brought up to speed is treated like shit because, suprrise surprise, they don't know the mechanics of a game they just fucking downloaded. It's not like I showed up with a purchased account known for being good in the past or had a lot of playtime. I literally had the game less than ten minutes by that point and they decided to treat me like shit. So I sabotaged their game, told them they're a disgrace to their mothers, quit, uninstalled, and haven't looked back since. Assholes.

Just get TF2? You get helped out. Just get CSS? You get helped out. Just get CoD or BF? You get helped out. But in MOBA games you get called a spacker and told you're a disgrace to humanity if you don't play a perfect game every game. They don't care if it's the first time you've even heard of the genre let alone played it, they expect you to be a boss at it the moment you first log in. They're assholes, I have zero respect for them, and I wish they never connect to the internet again.

That includes you, because judging by your post you're one of the assholes that made me swear off the entire genre.

People like you don't help the community either.
People like you are why I hate MOBA games. You are the embodiment of the assholes I cite when citing my dislike of the entire genre. Good job.

Protip: When someone mentions they've never even heard of MOBA games at the start of a match they're not going to be very good at the game. Instead of acting like a twat and hurling abuse at them, maybe try teaching them what to do instead? Shooter communities have their fair share of twats too but I've never seen the sorts of abuse and assholery towards brand new players in any of them.

Are you sure you uninstalled LoL? You flew off the handle and acted like your generalized MOBA player profile

Unskippable Cutscenes, especially if they happen like every 5 minutes. Mostly it's nowaday like this: watch a cutscene, walk 10 steps, cutscene, walk again, cutscene, actual gameplay. Ugh.

And I hate it when the game decides to slow down your movement to a snail because of plot relevant stuff, like in the Gears Series or recently in Max Payne 3 when you are near a switch.

I understand if it didn't help with the blood-screen, but the darkness? It's easier to see at night with the alternate vision than it is during the day without it.

Even the plasmids now have limited usage before they're just gone, so you'll have to be judicious with their use depending on the situation at hand. Maybe I'm biased because I'm practically drooling in anticipation over this game, but I think it'll work in this particular scenario.
really? fuck. So far this is the only thing i have heard about the game that i don't like... although in bioshock i always fully upgraded 1 weapon as my main fighting one, i don't think i neglected any. plasmids, yeah i did kinda stick to a couple of main ones, but my weapons were varied. now i'm going to stick to 1 main weapon, get attached to it, and only change my other one.

Simply this. Snipers. If I were to take a sniper and shoot someone in the chest(no matter the range or in most cases the armor they are wearing) they will end with a portal of red dripping liquid and air where their breakfast used to be...unlike in video games nowadays where unless you get that perfect headshot you get nothing for that shot and no real way of defending yourself because a pistol bullet to the ribcage does nothing either...basically people complain all the time about dying too easily online when in actuality only one of the 5 bullets you put in the guys chest was enough to put him down FOREVER!(dont get me started with older halo games with their 1 clip/life crap)
Edit: though one thing would be nice-In the CoD franchise there was an ability to fall to the ground and keep shooting as you are barely still alive...if they were to take into account of what i just said and have body recognition then a sniper bullet would be fatal but not instantaneous and would allow a pistol to be drawn for a few drawn out seconds of helpfullness while a bullet to the knee(hehe) would result in longer survival times(and depending on the game even a revival chance)

I'm with you on the weapon limit.

Let ME decide which wagons to use at any particular time.

Someone mentioned borderlands and it's system of weapon collecting/mapping and I would just like to add that the ONLY mod that I ever used in that game was to up my carrying capacity even more!....but, then again, that's kinda the point of that game (loot n shoot)...

Who really wants their HD game to look grainy?
I actually liked film grain in the Mass Effect games. Especially in the first one. I felt it added to the game's atmosphere.
It also worked really well in the Silent Hill series.

Yeah, because the Wii's innards comprise of a hamster running on a wheel. You just have migraine-inducing aliasing instead.

Head bobbing. It does not add to the game, it does not make me feel more connected to the character, it does not improve immersion at all.

It's fucking annoying, and it really needs to stop being put in games. Or at the very least give the option to turn it the fuck off.
Day Z's ARMA 2's head bobbing is insane. You can turn it off, but at its default its halfway on the scale and was almost giving me motion sickness. (It also has the worst post-processing effects in the world - it's like looking at the world with a condom full of lube over your head. Or errr... so I've been told. Thankfully you can turn that off too.)

Which reminds me: PCs have the capacity to render FOVs that aren't the size of key-holes. Stop restricting me to sub-90 degree views. I am not so desperate to play your game that I'll happily throw up over my own keyboard to do so.

OT: "We're trying to make it more cinematic." Then fuck off.
