***PLEASE READ THIS INITIAL STATEMENT***

***Just because I mention Twilight and Disney in the below OP, that does not mean I am automatically asking "why do pepple likez dem?" Read it, please. And yes; I'm aware that the majority of the fanbase is nowhere near here, it was an example of how there are so many more places that I've personally come across that are anti-tween. To summarize; Be it real life, or numerous places on the internet, I can't find the fans. You'd think I wouldn't have to place this statement, that people would get it by reading the post. Nope.***

***END STATEMENT***

Alright, show of hands, how many people here like Twilight? ...Yeah, I thought so. How 'bout Hannah Montana, Jonas Bros., or any other current Disney crap? Uh-huh, no surprise.

So, what I'm saying is, almost nobody here likes these things, that apparently so many people like. I've yet to meet someone who likes them though. Well, some people I know like Twilight, but most of them admit to their faults. I've only met one devotee in real life, and she was, well, whacky to begin with.

I'm wondering now; where are all these fans? There was that line a Comicon, all Twilight fans or something (so I've read about), Miley Cyrus and JB still sell out, the pricks. Do these people, the fans, just hide in their rooms drooling?

It's interesting. I do go on about how we have to destroy the tweentards, but I see so little of them I worry that it's merely a phantom threat or something. Does anyone else feel this way, or do these people really walk the streets in drones? Is the company I keep just that good?

Are we the minority? I'd say I know we are, but it's becoming less apparent all the time.

Those kind of people don't come to these kind of sites. Here were are civilised, mature people (harhar...), and... well... no offense, but too easy to impress. I mean, check out youtube, it's filled with them.

Perhaps you never look at the kind of stuff such people comment on. I guarantee if you did you'd see them out in droves upon doves upon droves....

My God.

I can imagine, though I mostly Youtube for music, not necessarily dickwads doing stunts, or New Moon trailers.

Plus, I'd argue that half of all Youtube users are singular people. One major dickish asshole, one tweenager. There's little to no individualism, is there?

But even outside, in the real world, it's a bit rare to see these people. And I'm still in Junior High, 9th grade.

The main demographic for Twilight is 12 year old girls if the Interwebs are correct. The reason you don't see them is either because you aren't hidden in an anonymous van outside a school or because 12 year old girls don't tend to use the Escapist forums all that much.

Either that or they have all become devotees to strange occult practises and are trying to summon vampires to be their boyfriends, resulting in half of them getting horrific burns to the face and the other half being admitted to mental institutes after trying to commit suicide when it didn't work. Or something like that.

Hm, so I'm probably the only one who feels like these people are in hiding?

Well, I live in Truro, NS (Canada), so maybe people are too busy smelling salt air, or riding trains to be into Twilight.

Oh, another note: there are so many haters on Twilight, Hannah, and JB videos, commenting on how crap they all are, it still feels like our army's bigger than theirs.

Ugh. There's a girl in my life who LOVES Twilight. Seriously she dreams about it and everything and tells random people who she thinks like her cos she's too gorgeous not to be loved. she's hideous

Anyway point is, count yourself lucky if you've never met a Twilight fan in real life

Not true, a 14 year old girl in my class reads Twilight. She's not a fangirl but she likes the books. Doesn't really matter though, its close enough..

I think that may be the point at which things become different. I know a few girls who like the books but not the films and are around 20-22. Most of the screaming hoardes of pre-adolescence are likely to have only encountered the film.

It's a bit like the difference between people who liked Lord of the Rings before the films came out and those afterwards. I imagine when the film adaptation of 'On the origin of species' comes out there will be countless screaming girls who all want their own Charles Darwin to whisk them away to the Galapagos.

Are you sure these Twilight fans are human?
Good question.

(As a completely unrelated side note; something happened in my download of D&D Online; how do I redownload it? Seeing as I already had it, then there was the upgrade, I think I might've deleted something and there was an error whenever it tried starting up. Can I redownload it with my old account, or do I have to make a whole new email or something?)

For Twilight fans, they do this:http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/The_Ungroundable
(It's sort of indirect with that)

And for Disney fans, they hide in their houses, until the next concert to scream and fantasize about their "idols" at.

What ever happened to those awesome 5 minute shorts thay had? I loved those!

Well you might be right about it being where you live, in my school last year almost all the girls from grade 5-8 were addicted to this crap (I'm in the Greater Toronto Area), I'm seeing it less in high school though, thankfully...

As for us being greater in number, no, we are not, I think we have just worn them down so much that they don't wanna argue with us for fear that they will realize (like we have) that they are all just a petty fad with the depth of a particularly small puddle of dog piss.

I first heard of Twilight from a patient; I work in a Labor and Delivery Hospital. A lot of the new mommies read Twilight. I guess tweens aren't the only fans of such things; just the ones that scream the loudest.

I know plenty of people who adore Twilight, many of them good friends. Another friend tore up a poster of Edward cullen in front of one of them just to see her reaction. Bear in mind that one of them also thinks that Harry Potter beats Lord of the Rings (both film and book). Sooooo yeah...
