Somehow this seems like someone trying to copy the "You know what's bullshit?" youtube series.
That's what I thought too.

I love the plastic on the game. There's nothing better than cracking the plastic and getting a lung full of that wonderful scent inside.

Mmmm. Technology.

No, the wrapping is fine around games.

The only plastic wrapping I hate is the one they usually wrap accessories with, such as a controller. Really solid plastic that has no visible opening points and even the scissors struggle to cut through it, then the controller is usually wrapped in wire in the box, grrr. That stuff infuriates me.
Agreed. I hate that plastic so very much. I just want to get to my [accessory x]. ;-;

To make it at least marginally harder for thieves to steal it from the store. Yes you can use a box cutter or razor, but that still takes more time and is more noticeable than just opening the box and grabbing the game.

Trust me, there are ALOT of people out there who jack them - even with the wrapping (I used to work in retail). It would be much worse without it.

(also, I really don't have a hard time removing it... it's all about technique)
The way it works in Australia generally, is that the boxes are on the shelves. You give the box to the employee and they then put the game inside the box and you then hand over your cash.

So at the worst, thieves are stealing a box. If they get lucky, a box and an instruction manual.
It works that way at certain stores. But those stores would not factor into this rant as they don't have the plastic wrap on them, just a sticker after they put the game in.

Have you tried getting a knife and making a hole on the side you open? It is very easy once you get a small cut in it.

you know what I don't hate? I don't hate vests.

Pfft. Those tabs on some DVD cases are worse. Apparently the regular case snaps aren't enough, they have to put on additional plastic locking mechanisms.

You mean the wrapper that can be taken off in a few seconds as an afterthought? No, I've never had an issue with that.

What I hate more are those fucking price tag stickers they put directly on the game box. They always put them on the worst places, like directly over the game title, and you can never get them off without destroying the box.

They are annoying because every time I get a new game, I take the wrapper off with my teeth and damage the other bit of plastic that keeps the cover in place (sometimes really badly) which then makes me really OCD over it. I actually won't buy a used game if the plastic waller holding the cover isn't more-or-less in decent condition.

Unless you're complaining about clamshell packaging (and I don't think you are), silence yourself.

Like, right now.

That stuff is the unholy abomination of plastic and Satan, industrial strength equipment is needed to remove it, and anyone complaining about other forms of plastic packaging have clearly never encountered it, for which I envy them.

Glory in the ease with which your soft plastic protective casing can be removed. Revel in the simplicity and safety of the design that is not out to kill you.

While you still can.

Those plastic wrappers they put around new videogames. Look, when i buy a new game, i prefer to just take out the manual, and sit on a bench in my town and read about my new game. But no! I can´t, because i can´t get the fucking wrapper up! Things like that makes me want to bang my head against a wall, seriously. I mean, WHAT.IS.THE.FUCKING.POINT!

Do you hate plastic wrappers?
I made a tool to deal with these, all you need to do is get an xacto blade, use pliers to break off a section, and make a slot in a piece of wood deep enough to expose about 1/2 mm of the blade. Glue the blade in, and now you can cut the plastic off without risking damaging the game!
