The zombie thing was about one it's way out by the time Day Z came around.Keoul said:Ahh good times, brings back memories.
I think it might have just been a phase, just like how zombies got popular due to Day Z, flying game's will come back just wait a few years.
There's a free indie game called Wing Commander Saga, built using the Freespace 2 engine. It combines the setting of the original Wing Commander games with the mechanics of Freespace 2. It's worth a play. The Madman said:After Freespace 2 what's the point? No space sim will ever be that good, if game genres were a contest it won with ease.
On a slightly more serious note however as others have pointed out the genre's been making a comeback recently. There are a whole slew of smaller studio projects released or in the works while there are two massive games in the works by some of the biggest names in the industry.
I think you may be confused as to why Day Z was so popular. Zombies didn't make a comeback because of Day Z, zombies were just always a topic to geek over and Day Z (as well as left 4 dead, dead island, call of duty, [insert generic zombie title here]) decided they should capitalize on it.Keoul said:Ahh good times, brings back memories.
