On the same vein, but a little different, I know I've played games too much when I start looking for features that are in some games, but not in others. For example, I played BioShock 2 for 2 1/2 weeks, then started Mass Effect 2 and tried using plasmids. I constantly go into other games and throw grenades when I shouldn't because I play so many different games and just use the default controls.
Oh, the BIGGEST one is trying to use the VATS system from Fallout 3 in other FPSs.
As far as translating into everyday stuff, when you start using language from the game in real life. If anyone here has watched the show FarScape, they know that it uses different words for cursing(what the hezmannah, frelling, etc). I've caught myself swearing like that before. :/ That's a show, but it happens from video games too, FarScape was just an easier example to use.
After playing Assassin's Creed, I look at buildings to see if they are climbable.
I know when I've played too much Guitar Hero/Rock Band because the screen of other items(usually my laptop) moves away from me because my eyes are adjusting to not having things scroll at them.
Occasionally, after playing Saints Row 2, I consider jumping on the hood of cars to get inside them faster.
