Hmmm, well I'm a mediocre gamer in general so I'd have to say "games" except for maybe single player RPGs. Competitive multiplayer I'm usually pretty bad at in any game.

FPS, Fighting Games, etc...

I traditionally do okay at the normal level against the CPU but when I put the game at hard levels I get smoked usually, which means I'm not all that great compared to all the guys who play on very hard mode from the very beginning and absolutly dominate, or manage to like get 150+ hit endless combos in fighting games.

I don't know, it might also be that my standards are too high.

When I lose I'm a noob, when I win I'm usually avoided for being "cheap" or "unsportsman like" according to my old XBL profiles after my SC IV multiplayer phase (with a "whopping" 50-50 win/lose ratio).

Deus Ex. I don't know if it's just because the game itsself is hard, or if the beginning is tough, or if it's just because I'm unaware of my ADD and can't wait for the guards to take three more steps, but I get blown to pieces on it.
Do you mean the first level? That's just atrocious level design. Once you get past that the game really opens up. I urge you to try and get past it so that you are able to see the great game it really is.

CoD4 online. I suck really, really badly. I'm level 40 now and am just about starting to break even in games. My Death to Kill Ratio is 2:1 :D

But someone has to prop up the Stats, right?

I think the reason it annoys me is that I was playing Doom before many of those now kicking my arse were born. I used to design levels for Quake using QED! So to be really bad at an FPS is galling, but then it's only recently I've ventured out into "online" so it's to be expected I suppose. It's still a great game though.

Unreal Tournament 2003. I absolutely loved that game despite being pretty dire at it... Although I usually played really well when I listened to Bach.

Pretty much all of the Oddworld games.

Well, I'm getting better. I've got to the Glukkon part in Bonewerkz in Abe's Exodus without cheating. ^_^

There's a big discrepancy between my interest and skill in several games. Guitar Hero, DMC4, StarCraft, Ninja Gaiden 2 are all examples of games I really like, and really wish I could be really good at, but I'm only an average player in. But the strongest case is DOOM - my favorite game of all time, which I've played for way more hours than any other game, yet in both single player (nightmare skill, speedruns) and multiplayer (deathmatch) my skills are not particularly impressive. Rather unfortunate.
