so apparently using the term bro is now racist. no really.

check it out [http://gawker.com/5837350/high-schoolers-you-mad-bro-sign-called-racial-intimidation]

Maybe it was bad taste to put a giant sign up to mock the losing team, but only bad sportmanship. It is not racist or ethnic intimidation. I think this is just a few people getting to butthurt over their team losing.

To the Lake county NAACP i say U mad bro?

So bro is racist now?

It never ceases to amaze me what they label racist these days.
It just serves to undermine the work and effort that goes into eradicating real racism.

These people should get a slap in the face and sent in the corner to think about how stupid they have behaved.

EDIT:
Watched the clip now, and I'm starting to wonder if these people are trolling hard.
It's so stupid I can't believe they are serious.

Silly people, desperate to see racism everywhere.

...It might be kind of racist to assume the word 'bro' is racist. "Bro? Well that sounds like something young black people would say. This must be being racist!"

actually I wouldnt be surprised if all the claims about racism are from racist groups trying to make people immediately roll their eyes at real racist things so they can be racist without people caring as much

"Bro" has carried racial connotations for my entire life. I'm not exactly sure where people have been, but I'm assuming it involves cabins and shacks in wooded areas.

And before anyone gets on me for it, it doesn't BOTHER me. I'm merely pointing out the fact that the connotations have existed long before the "u mad" fad started, and before "Bro" became a term for douchecanoes.

The search bar is your friend.

OT: No, of course it's not racist. Seriously, racism is always going to be an issue as long as there are people waiting to jump on any perceived injustice. As soon as people stop looking for things that might be racist, there will be far less of them.

Oh no, there is another politically incorrect term that I will continue to use because I can't be assed to change my ways.

OT: I don't get what's racist about it, I've used the word bro to almost everyone I know and its my go to term whenever someone comes up to me and I don't remember their name.
"Hey, staika"
"Oh, hey........ bro"
"You mother fucking racist!!!! why would you say that to me!?!?!?!?!?!?"
"I don't get what's wrong with it, please don't kill me."

EDIT: since I have to...

The only thing outside of violence that I see as racist anymore is the people that decry things as racist. For hell's sake people if I call another white man 'bro' no-one bats a fucking eye, but if I was to call a black man the same it would be? I treat everyone the same so that when I get called out on being racist I can throw that back at them. Why the hell should I (or anyone for that matter) treat anyone any differently than anyone else? I refuse to be "politically correct" simply based in the ass-backwards policies that it seems to spew.

So racist terms are racist because of the social connotation beyond that most of them are nonsense words. Bro has more association with jocks/fraternities than it does brother/brotha'man or some other variant of the word.

Bad sportmanship? Sure.
Racist? Are you high?
Newsworthy? Yep you ARE freaking high. Who gave this pundit crack?

Notice how it was Fox that it reports this?

Seriously, that's taking a joke too seriously in terms of the school, but, I'm sure they will get their way.

As if "bro" was ever a "black" word. I've only heard white frat boys in American comedies use that word (and people making youtube comments).
The people that are making these accusations are usually the ones who have issues with race. People who don't have these issues tend to not see these things as racist because they just don't think about them in these terms.

Never trust anything that's not direct from AP, trust me. :)

If it's real, then it's just an attempt to squash one sub-culture with another. No need to worry. No race was harmed during the utterance of this meme.

Putting up a sign like that is bad sportsmanship, I agree. But u mad bro is not a racist meme at all.
