I, for my bit, nominate Mass Effect 2 and the stupid, stupid endgame sequence where you fight that thing from the end of 2001. What in the name of spoo was that about?
Good sir, I respectfully disagree with you. The final boss fight had my blood and adrenaline pumping the hardest it has in ages.

I nominate The original Pokemon. "Congratulations on becoming the Champion! It'll never stick though, and you gain no real benefit for becoming the Champ. Go catch 'em all, *****!"

Also, World at War. Yeah, I knew I was gonna be carrying out the flag to the top of the Reichstag, but I didn't expect to be limping out there *barely able to stand*. That just pissed me off.
I expected someone to mention ME2 ending. I personally loved it, like you said with the adrenaline and all that. lol and the Pokemon thing was spot on. You go through all that, and people always keep bringing up about how you have the POTENTIAL to became the GREATEST TAMER EVAR! But no, nothing really happens.

But yeah, as a lot of people are saying, it's gotta be Fable 2 for me. I wanted to make that bastard pay for KILLING MY DOG! That dog was the only friend I had in the world. He had way more personality than any of my many wives. But no, this "badass" responsible for everything bad that happened in my life dies from a single gunshot.

And not just the boss, but after that too. Being king meant absolutely nothing. No benefits other than being able to live in a really big house.

Bioshock... The last boss was too easy.

Fallout 3. The whole lead up to the last boss was epic, with Liberty Prime (when he didn't get stuck on a pebble). But once you get to the building and find the evil mastermind, it took me one shot to his face to blow it into confetti. Then it's PowerPoint slideshow time.
On that vein... could we add Fable 2 (and 3) to the list of horrible game endings?

i completely agree with you here... we basically had to fight the same boss TWICE (there was a supreme hunter earlier in the game)! and all that was different was the locale and they put us on a time limit... thanks a lot dipshit designers... thanks a lot...

that last boss literally made me smash my controller at how fucking frustrating and cheap he was...

The end of Battlefield: Bad company 2. A five minute or less mission followed by a "THERE WILL BE A SEQUEL" cutsceen. after only a four hour campaign, i was very pissed and ended up hating the game for it.

BORDERLANDS
Dear god yes. THEY PROMISED AN ARMOURY OF THE GODS!!!
Unfortunately you need to buy the General Knoxx expansion to get the armory of the gods, which isn't fair. The original game's ending did suck, but Gen. Knoxx gives you lots of fun play and swag.
Oh well this might fix my abandonment issues with borderlands... for leaving me without a Valhalla full of weapons.
There are 2 Weapon Valhallas in Gen. Knoxx and you get to visit them over and over and over again, as long as you kill whatever boss protects the Valhalla, also over and over and over again.

KOTOR II. 'Nuff said.
Has Obsidian actually delivered a good ending to any of their game?
Fixed.

I would say the original Sly Cooper. But that was more of a "He could of got the girl!" moment for me which made me go apeshit for some reason.

Related news: Soooo happy for Sly 4. :)
wait, wait, wait... you into furries? well, what ever floats your boat man
What? No! o_O

As far as I concerned, they're both likable CHARACTERS. The fact that they're animals has nothing to do with it.

It's the same feeling as in any other game/movie where you want the main character to get the girl, you know? I'm not sure if you read too little or too much into my previous statement. Heheh.
Nawwwwww i want the main character to find out the girl is actualy a boy AFTER they got it on...

Maybe the end of Assassin's Creed 2 where you don't kill the pope, which after a long fight seems like a loosy excuse to get a sequel in the same time period.
Except they didn't make the ending like that to setup Brotherhood, it ended like that to set up the next installment of Desmond's story. The message from Minerva was for Desmond and Ezio was just a pawn to relay that message. Once Desmond had seen the message they could have gone straight to AC3 without using Ezio anymore.

That being said, I can see why some people didn't like the ending. I enjoyed it myself, but for those who don't much care for the overarching plot with Abstergo and the Assassin's it would definitely have been very out of place and unsatisfying.

Compared to the end bosses of Fallout 1 and 2 they really did not try. A scientist in no armour with two mates of his hiding out of view really didnt stand a chance at that stage. They should've looked back on the first two games and thought "The master and horrigan were not jokes to beat, how can we make this a hard fight".

Prototype I thought had a crap end. The fight was me running and flying around a ship picking up planes and thought it was kinda hard I guess, it was boring and the ending that followed was just dull.
The Master was piss easy to beat. He never got a shot on me. All you did was hide behind the pillar, walk around the corner when it was your turn and pepper him to shit. Then go back behind the pillar and then minigun whatever mutant that came in to stop you. Horrigan on the other hand. Yeah.. He was a Mean'sum'*****.

((SPOILER ALERT))
OT: The most anti-climatic bossfight would be Fable 2. I walk into the room and he turns around about to say something. But since Im not a moron like the heroes in the movies that let the badguy talk before he zapz your ass to shit. I instantly shot him in the head with my rifle. And over the edge he went. And I was like...boss fight? Soon? Oh...we're leaving? LAME. He shouldve atleast have activated some sort of awesome ancient defences or something. But no, he just dies instantly. Sure he's an old man but a little more effort before the gratifying revenge wouldve been nice.

The fight basicly sums up to this.

1. Hero enters room.
2. Douchebag turns around and says "A bloo-bloo-bloo"
3. Hero stabs Douchebags face with bullets.
4. The End.
Oh, and you can have some money for the lulz but if you do everyone will think your a douche.
or you can bring your sister ack to life AND YOU WILL NEVER SEE HER. but atleast you get your dog...or have a statue for saving people you dont know...hmmmmmmmm

Alpha Protocol actually has a decent ending, depending on what you do.

I agree with KotOR II though, especially because, well, it has to follow KotOR 1.

Dragon Age... there are no endings that don't suck at least a little. But there you go, such is life sometimes.
I think the point(or at least, one of the many points) In Dragon Age was to make it feel like life. As in, A complete win isn't always possible.
Really? I was kinda happy with my ending to Dragon Age Origins. I don't know how to use the spoiler box thingy, so I'll just say that I didn't die, Allistair didn't die, and I got to watch Allistair kill that guy........ Loghain! (I was going to say "Leghorn" it's been a while) And they all had a happy party with only one person missing.

Assassin's Creed 2, the last level is too linear and the final boss fight was nowhere near challenging.
YOU GET TO PUNCH THE POPE!
EDIT: Opps. I'm sorry. I forgot to put spoilers. But then again, you know he's the bad guy like 30 minutes in.

My vote goes to Far Cry 2.

Fantastic setting, beautiful environment and graphics. So much potential and enjoyable despite the weapons being made out of rust and tinfoil, the rapidly respawning bad guys who'd kill you if you so much as shared their sunlight, the fucking malaria and the piss-poor storyline. Inter alia.

It could have even equalled an okay game if the ending wasn't so goddamn awful. Either shoot yourself or blow yourself up. Are you kidding me? I'm meant to be hunting this bloke down and kiling him - despite the fact he keeps saving my life of course - and the final confrontation is a stupid fucking suicide pact?

I didn't realise the last mission in GTA 4 was the last mission til I'd actually beaten it. Even after 10+ attempts, not til I actually completed it and the credits started rolling did I realise it.

I found gta4 to be extremely unrewarding. Chasing some guy or another across libery island and shooting him wasn't exactly exciting. Mind you this is after I shot a couple hundred pigeons for the lamest attack chopper ever.
I disagree. You left out some detail of the level too!

Depending on who your final boss is, the level has some small changes. I'll give a small rundown of it all.

- Highspeed car chase down the wrong carriageway on a 'freeway'
- A large 3 stage shootout with many mobsters in a burnt out casino.
- Chasing the final boss across the rooftop until he gets into a helicopter or boat, depending on who the boss is.
- The PC clings to the vehicle until being kicked off.
- The PC uses a dirtbike/boat to chase after the helicopter/boat until the PC's best friend arrives in a gunship. The PC then must speed up their vehicle and perform a small QTE to jump onto the gunship on the Hudson river.
- The PC pilots the chopper, dodging enemy RPG's while firing miniguns at the enemy helicopter while flying through Manhattan.
- Both Helicopters crash at the foot of The Statue of Liberty. Shit loads of symbolism that I won't go into.
- The PC fights through a final wave of enemy's before fighting the final boss, who has the most health in the game. Also, this final boss killed your best friend/girlfriend.

I thought it was pretty good, combining every combat and driving skill in the game and taking place across the entire game area. Compared to some of the stuff listed in this thread, this ending is like Jesus Christ.
this happens at the end of GTA4? fuck me i just drove somewhere shot some guy a flew a helicopter. then i jumped onto another heli, jumps on a boat and shot some guy...

Fable 3 final boss
lol, haven't played it yet, but please don't tell me that it involves the final boss talking for about 5 minutes and then some guy off-screen shooting him in the head. Please tell me it's not that bad.
Don't worry, you do actually get a fight this time, its just not that special. It's like a regular enemy who has more health.

I must be the only person who actually liked the original Fallout 3 ending.
It didn't really bother me that there wasn't a 'final boss', to be fair in this day and age you don't get any real final bosses anyway. The slide show was suitably ominous, and it's not like the rest of the game actually has cutscenes anyway!
Was alright by me.

meh.i found it "boring".
i mean, autumn was killed by radiation...and he came back to life. he then died from 1 shot...then i sacrificed myself.
after that ending i sarcificed the woman and i woke up in the BoS base and broken steel made the game better in my opinion
