Well luckly, Canada has some nice German communities that I can go live with, while Mexico does not. That pretty much just sells it for me. I tend to go where my people are.

Living in Australia there are no sane options for me. Head up North to Papau New Guinea or Indonesia, neither of which are all too appealing, or head East onto the Land of the Long White Sheep, also known as New Zealand. Well, I'm screwed.

In all honesty New Zealand would be the place I'd have to go to. I know people there, its a nice enough country, and it'd be a whole lot cheaper to get every day goods than it is down here. Personally I'd rather head somewhere far away from Aus, but W/E, of course our government is cheap and lazy and won't bother sending me there...

Scotland in a few years time. It's easy to adapt to their local culture, just drink heavily and blame everything that's ever gone wrong in your life on Margret Thatcher. Being from northern England I'm basically 90% there already.

Gotta be Mexico. Way better babes. Way better parties. Dollar is way stronger than the Mexican Peso. Weather is a million times better. Spanish is a gangster language. And if you're that worried about safety, just pick a tourist spot to live the rest of your time. Mexico has got a shit ton of those.

By the way, and in case you didn't already know, just by glancing through this thread you can get a good idea of America's general feelings towards Mexicans...

Hmm. I haven't really heard good things about Mexico right now. So, looks like I'm moving to Canada. That doesn't sound too bad actually.
Have American citizens ever heard good things about Mexico....

Canada. Not too fond of the French part (I personally find French to be an ugly tongue.) but every Canadian I've ever met was really cool. And it's fairly analogous to the US anyway, so the transition between cultures would be simple.

Not really... not really sure why anyone would pick Mexico, really. Not the safest place to be. And you can't drink the water there. (Also I can't speak Spanish.)
Look a couple posts up and that will tell you why someone would want to move to Mexico, even if they weren't forced to. Not being able to drink the tap water is not a big deal. I'm currently and have been living in China for the past two years. Can't drink the tap water here either. And as for the safety thing (Which I also sort of answered a few posts up), your biggest fear is being pick pocketed (and even that's a rare thing). As for anything else, you've got just as high risk living in the states if not more so (like getting shot for instance).

Hmm, not sure I'd really agree with... any of your opinions on Mexico, to be honest. But you have a point about tourist spots.

I'd still go Canadian if forced to pick. Might do it anyway sometime. Just seems like a better place for the sort of person I am.

I'd go for Scotland. Good food, good booze, "quirky people", and the best damn tap water in the universe? I'm in! It also helps that I'm from Scotland, and love it to bits.

If I had to leave the UK, then I'd go to France. I probably wouldn't go very far cause Normandy is bloody awesome.

Don't worry about it. Rarely has anyone agreed with anything I've ever said. And I don't know why I'm making that big a fuss over it anyways. I don't really expect another American to choose Mexico over Canada. I mean, remember 12 Angry Men? Most of the people on that Jury hated Latino's too. Maybe I'm just dreaming about being Juror 8 (Henry Fonda) right now.

Well I'm Northeast England. So I have a chocie of Wales or Scotland... I guess Scotland, it'd only be a tiny transition.

But as an example Canada Day (basically our 4th of July) involves thousands of people wearing white and red and painting the maple leaf on their faces while watching fireworks.
It's funny the best Canada Day fireworks celebration that I've seen was when I was at a town that sat right on the border of the States, the location was probably irrelevant but I like to think that it was a "yeah we can celebrate too" at the Americans.

Reminds me of when I came back from Ecuador via Miami Airport and as we were passing through security, the head security guy (or whatever) called out to us to remove our money pouches, saying "don't worry, no one's gonna steal your stuff, you're in a civilised country now". And this is a guy in pretty high authority.

Do people actually believe these places are run down hell holes?

Well, I live in Argentina. So my choices are Chile, Bolivia, Paraguay, Uruguay or Brazil... I guess it will be Uruguay since we are not that different, but Brazil sounds tempting too.
How do you get over Portuguese though? I hate the language. It's like drunk Spanish.
Lol really?

A few months ago when I was deciding to learn a new language Portuguese just about edged out Spanish for me, partly cos I preferred the written form of the language. Although now that I listen to it I kinda know what you mean. I don't particularly love the sound of either language (although they're both growing on me). Generally I much prefer Italian and Russian in that respect.

What are Chilean-Argentine relations like? I can't tell if they're properly tense, if there's just a rivalry or if I've just been completely mislead.

France? It's bad enough dealing with Quebec, and you'd want to move to France?

Gotta say Canada. Even if I spoke Spanish, I'm just not that fond of Mexican food.

Well it's either Wales or Scotland, so I guess I'll go with suicide Wales. I have a feeling I'd get infinitely less shit for being an Englishman in Wales over Scotland (Other than conjecture/media stereotypes I really have no idea what it would be like to either of these places, though they'd probably have nice countrysides at least).
