Ignore Final Fantasy, work on Kingdom Hearts 3, you bastards!
Dude! This! This times 100!
And then once Kingdom Hearts 3 is done, I'd maybe go back to Final Fantasy.

Re-hire everyone from Square-Soft

Fire everyone who Enix hired. Stop doing stupid things.... GO!

I kinda think they should start a LOOOOOOOOOONG over lapping story.

Make more cities, have characters who are different, since it is an rpg, have characters die if you create the plot in a certain direction. Spend less time on the look of the game, more time ON THE GAME

Axe it and make 'TWEWY 2'. That's a much better idea.
lol, beat me to it. although I'm curious how that's going to work out.
They said they are interested in making a 'TWEWY 2'...so it's really all down to them at this point. The 3DS should help them along.

Id Remake FF-7, focus on making the perfect MMO, then sell the company so I can buy the Bahamas.

Final Fantasy XV: Hire the best writers I can think of for the story, create a battle system more like Kingdom Hearts 2, And that's really all I can think of off the top of my head.

I'd step away from the androgynous look, bring in a main character, if he were a guy that is, and make him this grizzled vet who's got a hankering for kicking major ass, and not the girly guy who just might want to do something else with an ass.

I'd move away from the linear and go into the open world.

Allow the airships, cause it's Final Fantasy, it needs airships, to be piloted by the player, allowing him fun to roam, I used to do that with all the older FF games, up until 10, when that system was switched to a point and play.

Bring in the Job System, that was better then the Grid.

Make the characters unique and compelling, that doesn't mean make them look like every other jrpg character out there. Have the men look like men, and the women look like women, stop the androgyny in every game... or at least let the black guy be a real guy, Barrett comes to mind.

Listen to the voice actors, if they sound like they're bored, hire someone else, because in all honesty, if they're bored, we're going to be bored.

I haven't played FF since 10, when it got bad, which was a surprise because I thought 9 was bringing it back to the old school. In fact, remake 9 but with different characters, settings, story and all the sort of things we need changed in order to play the next game without too many similarities.

I would take the best assets of the FF franchises and combine a RPG story with the tactics based combat and class system.
The setting needs to be Medieval / Renaissance era with tech up to early guns / bombs.
Annoying characters must either die by mid story or be excluded completely. Women characters must not be stereotyped as the healer/caster/archer who does crappy damage and gets K.O.ed super fast (the idea behind having the class system is you grow your characters based on what type of combat you want them to do and not how they are designed to fight). Minimal teenage/child characters.
Tons of side quests, extra bosses, hidden items, multiple endings, mini games (optional only)
New Game+
Minimal hand holding/on rails story outside the initial hour or two of gameplay.

Final Fantasy Tactics 2. Not the story-book fantasia Ivalice was made into for the Advance games, but the 12th century realm of the original where every kingdom has skeletons and backstabbing nobles in their closets. Doesn't have to continue where FFT left off, just take place in the same universe with the same dark approach to the class war and succession crisis as before.

Try another Mana game, embracing the genre's greatest strengths including picturesque worlds, detailed enemies, varied weapons, real-time Zelda-style battles and multiplayer. I felt that Legend of Mana dumbed it down too far (also being far too easy regardless), but one thing I liked about it was the ability to just pick up a weapon of your choice and play through a dungeon with your pals, almost like a beat 'em up with HP and damage numbers.

Personally, I would do the following:

1) Stop making FF. There's been enough drivel after number 7 of the series, give it some time to be missed. And get some decent story writers for crying out Cloud. Sheesh.
2) Kick start the Mana series, even if it means rebooting the old games. Get some good story writing in there and make it seem sensible and immersive. For examples to avoid, see Metroid Other M and Dragon Age 2.
3) Get some classics, maybe even some obscure games, an overhaul. Chrono Trigger is a prime example. Think of what a graphics overhaul could do for this already legendary game. Secret of Evermore is another example.
4) Take some innovative risks. The cartoons of today are just simply horrid. Get some Mana-type cartoons out there, I'm sure someone would be interested in seeing Salamander fry something. And the sprite's character in general. And psychotic pink rabites. Hmmm, pink rabite slippers. Rabite bean bag chairs. Hmmmmmmmm........
5) Perhaps invest in another Tactics-type game. See what was good and bad about the games, incorporate more of the good while shaving the bad elements out and, perhaps, get some new ideas into the game. Story and characters are an absolute must in this endeavor.
6) If the urge to make FF starts happening again, see point #1.

I would stop making final fantasy and pursue a new and exciting IP.

I make it a third person cover based shooter to be released in a trilogy and piss off the entire fanbase.

For a new Final Fantasy I'd experiment with a new "narrative control" mechanic. What would that mean?

"narrative control" is a game design idea from tabletop gaming. You can learn more about it at sites like The Forge, http://www.indie-rpgs.com/forge/index.php "narrative control" recognizes that playing a game with others creates a social contract, and creates rules for PCs to share the reins with the GM. For obvious reasons the actual mechanics created for narrative control in table-top games would not work with a computer game.

What I have in mind you could call "Story Points". The player would be offered multiple opportunities to earn SP while playing the main storyline. Then the player could spend PP to customize their play experience, either in cosmetic ways by personalizing the party members or in more advanced ways by opening up side-quests, mini-games, or alternative battle systems. For players spending a lot of SP, their Final Fantasy game would become a wild sandbox of challenges, but the game would be a simpler, straightforward narrative for more novice players.

I would remake 7, 8, and 9 for either the PS3 and/or PSP, make 1 last game but before starting that tell everyone that it's going to be the *puts on sunglasses* Final Fantasy

Remake final fantasy VII but make it so disappointing for fans that they never ask for a remake again. then I'd remake final fantasy 6. I'd remake the shit out of that game and make it a benchmark for all other games to aspire to. I'd put out another FF tactics game then I would sell the final fantasy brand to Activision at the height of its worth so they can make one once a year and crush the soul of the franchise after 3 years of mediocre titles. by this time I'll have made enough money to live on a boat for the rest of my life, which is what I would do, handing the reins over to some guy who actually wants the company to survive. I'd live off of the profits until I died.

Go back to its roots, stop trying to make it all futuristic and bring it back to a sort of FF9 art style. Throw a nod or two back to the old days of 'Black Mages' and 'Fighters', and maybe attempt a story with some depth. Show the characters, make them real, give them a life beyond just being an avatar for the player to control. Some of the best moments of 9 and 10 in particular where those human moments where the characters actually acted like people thrown in a crazy ass situation. Just some ideas

stop making stories where the protagonists spend too much time depressed. a story generally needs the protagonists to try and fail at least once but, my god, it's okay to have a lighthearted story once in a while..... I really hate Hope...
