Looks like competitive Smash players get a lot of hate. These guys simply enjoy playing this way, and there's nothing wrong with that.

I understand there are assholes who try to force everything unto you, but they are just a vocal minority in a fine community.

Anyway, no Smash thread is complete without:WHERE YOU AT?!
That video made tourney goers even less likable. May they never breed... which I'm assured they will not.

Ew, chain grabs and wavedashing.

Just the kind of Smash Bros player I despise.
FINAL DESTINATION :D

Wave Dashing, Chain Grabs? Yeah they may be bug exploits, but they're used by PROS.. but fuck you if you play the game with options that were meant to be used like items, characters, or FUN D:<
Man, you guys really despise competitive play. You don't need to play at a competitive level to have fun, but it's crystal clear that these dudes in the video were having fun. :/

And sure there are some players out there who do say "fuck you, play by our rules," but they are a vocal minority. Ironically, and unfortunately, I'm feeling the "fuck you, play by our rules" vibe from some of the folk posting in this thread. :(

Anyway, Smash is one of those games that can be easily tailored to your liking. There is no "right" or "wrong" way to play; all that matters is that you enjoy yourself. There's no need to rag on a community for playing differently.

He wouldn't do it if it wasn't effective. He's playing to win. No reason to hate him for it.
For the same reason Wesker in UMvC3 is effective.

Doesn't mean it's not cheap as fuck :D
If you're playing with some friends for some fun, then sure, constraints on what people can/can't do so even the worst player there can still have fun and have a chance at winning is a pretty good idea.

But in a competetive context, which this is, "cheap", "unfair", "bullshit" etc just don't exist. The type of player that restricts what they incorporate into their play is the type of player that will not get far in any competetive scenario. Even if something is truly infair, as in completely imbalanced, it's still not the players fault for using it because they enjoy trying to get as good as possible within the intended game mechanics, so they're just doing what they enjoy. In that case it's just a poorly designed game.
Which is why they ban stuff like Akuma and competitive CoD 2 and 4 really restricts the game weapon and perk choice. In one competitive thing I was doing in CoD 4 you only had stopping power as a perk and I forget the 1st slot perk with many of the weapons removed such as p90.

So yeah just because it is in the game does not mean it will be allowed in competitive games. While most try to allow everything as not to be restrictive some stuff are just too powerful and game changing. For example, when I was playing Cod 2 on my clan's server years ago we were losing in a S&D game 1:9 when it was up to 10 to win. I took a Ppsh and so did another guy and we won.
