You would play this right? And other obvious, overlooked game premises...

Alright, I've been thinking about a premise for a game that seems completely obvious. Something that I don't think we've seen at all.
A superhero RPG.

Think about it, you create your hero/villain, you choose your powers and you make your costume and you have a big open world city and you go nuts. If I were making a game like that I'd go a bit more in depth (like including different ways your character got his/her powers and I really like the system in Champions where you create your own nemesis, so I'd include something like that too) but that's the general premise. Seems like a really obvious set up for a good game right? And yet, I've seen no one take a shot at making it.

I'm not including games like, City of Heroes or Champions online, or inFAMOUS or Prototype. CoH and Champions are MMOs. And inFamous and Prototype have you playing as Cole and Mercer and using their power sets. I'm thinking a fully customziable, single player, superhero RPG.

So, I ask you: Would you play that game? Also, are there any game premises that you think seem really obvious, and you're surprised no one has taken a shot at them?

Oh yeah, an open world Zombie game too. That's been mentioned before as well, sort of a GTA: Zombieland. Surprised no developer has done that either.

A superhero RPG.
Make it as big as Just Cause 2 and allow me to ransack more and more fortifications as my powers increase and I'm sold.

Zombies just killed it. Seems like Crackdown 2 now
They wouldn't be in the same game, I'm just listing off two different premises. I wouldn't include Zombies in the superhero game for that very reason... well unless your character could turn people into them or something cool like that.

not really no. all the lore, how your character got their powers their back story who they are out of the costume it would have to be the same basic thing in every copy, so it's not my character just the preset i prefer. much prefer infamous where they expertly sculpt the character and his powers into the game.
Start out the game with a little questionnaire and a character customization so you can create the story I know it can't be all encompassing but at least there you can choose to be a student, or a postal worker, or a cop or something along with a few stats like smarts, charm, and courage. You just got home from a tiring day of work/school (whatever you chose earlier) and you see a meteor fall to earth and decided to approach it, then a menu comes up so you can pick your powers and it mutates you. Or an alien comes out and you grab it's power suit whatever you like. Also it wouldn't be that hard to add in character customization, just give different colors of spandex and a few symbols to choose from. Then you can choose to go fight crime, do crime or continue working your day job.

I know it's not perfect but hey that was the first thing that came to mind. I just started Persona 3 and that is a brilliant game that combines a jrpg elements with a life/dating sim so something like that but instead of a jrpg a western rpg and superheros.

Sounds like an excellent idea to me. Sorta a superhero Dragon Age: Origins kinda thing with the beginning?
