Erm.
I'm willing to bet you were the same age at some point. And, and! You were also yelling at the screen when frustrated with a game.

And if you really think the kids are more rage filled than the older generations, you've got some rethinking to do.

That's just him going through puberty. Remember, they're called "raging hormones", not " nice quite polite well-behaved hormones". Testosterone is a hell of a drug.

I often play MW2 with my best mate and his 11year old cousin. All 3 of us are pretty decent players (the cousin being the best, K/D 2.1) admittedly me and my mate have a moan with the odd "bloody hell" thrown in but the 11year old swears alot and gets stroppy everytime he dies even when everyone tells him to keep a lid on it.

I would say the problem is letting young kids play games which were made for people older than them, simple as.

Hey i'm 16 and i don't get video game rage. What's with all the ragging on 16 year olds on this site recently, we do have independent thought you know. Some of us can be quite nice when we want to be.

I think the young kids should go back and play some of the shit I had to deal with.
Beat silver surfer
beat all the mega man games
try to beat ghost busters 2 or robocop or robocop 2 on the NES.
Play roguelikes, if you only own a PS3 beat NG+ on demon's souls.

Gamers now-a-days are spoiled whiney shits who expect to win all the time and face no fucking challenge in a game. This makes almost all games absolutely BORING as hell. If I don't die at least 30 times in a game of reasonable length it is not hard enough.
Hell, just beat the first few levels on Demon's Souls and it is already a pure test of patience. You remember Abadox? That was probably the hardest game I've ever played. My brother and I would leave the NES on for weeks trying to beat it cause it didn't have a save feature.

Yeah, I have little to no patience with younger gamers. I think it all got used up back when I was a class officer for the class of choice for younger kids in WOW. The amount of abuse I got from them because I told them that their build was wrong for raiding and that if they didn't change it, they weren't raiding with us was insane.

Also, my most recent encounter involved some young kid sending me a voice message on Xbox Live shrieking at me (in a very high pitched voice) to 'start the f****** game you dumb f*****" because we had been in the lobby waiting for what he felt was too long has reminded me of how little I like younger players.

Good parents should make sure their gaming kids go through the gaming gauntlet of old, and play older games before they start modern games. They need to play games that dont have save points, old sega and nintendo games and work there way up.

I take slight offense to you saying that all kids are whiny shits. I'm fourteen, and yes, I do rage sometimes, but I mostly keep my calm and accept when I loose as the other guys being better. Sure, ninety nine percent of this generation are stupid and should shut the hell up, but there are some of us (like every other generation) that are normal people that are just young.

I agree with that statement. For some reason,us 16 year old gamers have been getting quite the yelling at us for no reason whatsoever.

OT:I think that age, while being a big contributor,is not the only reason why the younger children are these rage filled bags of hate and scorn.I think that role models and parenting don't get looked at enough. In this generation, most kids get their role models from video games and television. And there aren't all that many positive role models within that media.

They're actually probably the worst possible role models along with porn stars and pedophiles.
I thought it was pretty much agreed that the Internet = Porn Stars and Pedophiles.
Don't forget the trolls!

On a tad more serious note, I'm 13, and while I knew people hated me, I didn't realize everyone hated me. I've planned out my entire life until I graduate from college! I spell check everything I post on the internet. I've found an equal number of immature name-calling swearing just because they think it's funny 20 year-olds as 12 year-olds. Why do we get the hate?

I've heard so many kids screaming at the mic on games its aggravating, a British kid was screaming at me because I wouldn't move my sentry gun so he could put his there, and that my dispenser placement wasn't blocking any vital entry points of the base. I always assumed the dispenser was for healing and reloading, and I think the teamates huddled around it agree.

I have noticed a very irritating but common trend with younger games from the ages of about
11 - 16, My brother for example was having a hard time defeating the first boss of Red Steel 2 when after the first try started screaming at the screen. We have a whole generation behind us who will become the most rage filled gaming generation ever i serously dont want to go online to hear this when i play and am not looking forward to that in the near future. . .
You mean you didn't yell and scream at a super hard boss when you were a kid?
this. there were some games that literally had me in tears and raging the fuck with my heels hammering the floor and my fists pounding my bed. thanks alot mario party mini games. fuck you and your broken luck mechanics.

once i got to about age 10 tho i stopped being the super overly competitive person and i enjoyed games no matter winning or losing, and i think alot of kids online are just too competitive and need to take it down a few notches. I have a friend like this who to this day plays games only for competitiveness, and simply rages and message spams the fuck out of people saying "need a pillow?" "YOU MAD?", and it gets quite annoying (mind you, he is 21, so he doesn't count for the younger gamers)

its part of a cycle, at some point you get mad, some point your chill as fuck, some point you get annoyed as fuck, i just learn to deal with it and not let it bother me.

Trust me, about 70% of the people you see online will have completely lost interest in games in a few year's time. A large portion of XBL/PSN is done by adolesents and teenagers just because playing games online is 'the done thing'.

I can't speak for the future gaming community however.

Remember singleplayer and the mute button will always exist!
Uncharted 2 shipped with multiplayer. So will Dead Space 2. And the upcoming Assassins'S Creed 2.5. I know that some people like multiplayer, but I fear that soon, good single player won't exist anymore. We'll just be stuck with this online shit that I just don't want. Developers shouldn't shoehorn multiplayer into games, it's a waste of time. What do you think?

It's a trend that most kids are going through at that age these days. (That might seem repetitive, but read on.) Not only is that the tumultuous and notorious period of the beginning of puberty, but modern children have had less education at home about the proper way to behave. There are lots of parents who let anything go.

Then again, I still yell at the screen and I'm 24/F. Maybe it's just a human thing.

And the divine gaming gods said, "Be at peace, child, for you now have the greatest power any mortal gamer could hope to obtain. You have the mute button."

Alas, they get more potential for acting as role-models than most other mediums. Its rather sad, actually. I guess I should be grateful that, at least for the short term future, I don't really have to deal with those kinds of people in my life. They go and be rage-prone and wierd somewhere far away from me.
