The idea here is to be a Fighting Gym Leader with a focus on something OTHER than just martial arts. Instead, he focuses on superheroes and draws comics about heroes based on the Pokemon he trains. He's rather idealistic and not only dislikes the evil team of the region but actively tries to fight them. He's not too fond of Dark-type Pokemon, but he might warm up to Dark-types that show themselves to be rather kind.

That's why I volunteered to set this gym up for the League: I'm looking for strong trainers to help me fight them. Only if you can beat my team will I recognize you as an ally in the fight for justice."
