Mine is from a comic book I draw. I'm planning to finish it (I've been trying to figure out an ending for quite some time) and then try to market the strip either online or by sending it around to publishers.

It's a cool title, isn't it?

Most of my Aliases are Cowboymonkey21. I have no idea how I got that one, I decided to do fontlas for this username to have something new. And Bioshock kicks ass.

In Anarchy Online, I was like 'wat' so I named my character Geleekrapfen, or jelly donut in German. Then, it somehow evolved to Doompancacke and i found out waffles were cooler (But not better) and the rest is history.

when i first began playing computer games, specifically fps' i was horrible, so when asked for a username i just put in "badshot". Then i had a few lucky kills and changed it, now years later i don't suck nearly as much, maybe its time to switch to moderatelyskilledshot

A book and a funny word when I was 9, and it has just stuck

Without the knowledge behind it, It just seems like a regular "I like death" name, with a random addition so I could use it, but I like to think of it as more.

Round early 08 on 7chan, fag word filtered to spider expert. I found this charming for some reason.

Eloquent, comedic character that uses unnecessary and very precise verbiage.

My WoW character was a Mage with the same name. It let me click with the kool kids.

Well pretty simple for me. I always played assassin or rogue like characters in MMO's, I always used sneaky tactics in RTS's and I always played sneaky in shooters. That combined with the fact that I barely have any creativity, end you end up with "Assassinator". Nowadays I prefer Cowabungaa though, just because it sounds awesome. Came up with that one when my brother was making his first WoW char, obviously a tauren.

Mine is simply a reference to one of my all time favourite childhood games, Rick Dangerous.

I do use an alias in real life though, mostly for when I'm writing things. I chose to use another name because my actual name is not the kind that rolls of the tongue smoothly. Plus I was also told once that writers should use a name that's in the D-M range so that your books aren't stocked at the top or the bottom of the shelves.

irl Im a Lance Corporal in the Marine Corps. Lance Corporal is the 3rd Enlisted rank (E-3). My last name starts with D. E-3 D = Echo 3 Delta in the phonetic alphabet. It's common for Marines to use this formula to come up with quick and dirty callsigns for themselves when doing radio training. e.g. Sergeant Smith would be Echo 5 Sierra; Captain Johnson would be Oscar 3 Juliet (3rd Officer rank); and once I get promoted to Corporal, I'll have to change all my internet and gamer tags to Echo 4 Delta. The more you know.

Mine sounds like Rockstar... but isn't. Thought it was cool.

My eBay one rocks though - PornstarChampion - THE CHAMPION OF ALL PORNSTARS!

I got my current alias on the forum for the webcomic Sheldon [http://sheldoncomics.com] and it was the first time I actually had one I liked more than a few minutes. Very fickle I am, hmm. It's from The Road Warrior, because I figure myself to be the kind of person who would not only have a working flying machine after the holocaust, but operate it with a pet snake on hand and wearing goggles, helmet, and longjohns. Gyro as a sandwich can be pronounced "hero", so there's another good reason.

Hunde Des Krieg, Dogs Of War. Thought it was Dog of War but whatever...
Heard it on The Postman, and translated it to German, cuz it sounds cool and Dog of war was taken on Live.
The genitive form tends to be really formal and awkward in modern German, and that's actually closer to "dogs of THE war", not to mention I have the niggling feeling Hunde should become Hunden in the genitive, but I won't tell. Wait, crap, I did. *makes obeisance and pleads forgiveness*

*Hund von Krieg, cough, cough
You know I've heard so many ways it "should" be translated that I just don't care anymore.

Thanks for all the replies guys. There are some pretty cool stories with all your Alias'.
This thread even helped my find that something extra I was looking for with my pretty generic alias "Jester". It is now "Jester LeRoy". Jester coming form the obvious, but Leroy is my real name and it means The King in old French. So not only does Jester LeRoy sound cool, it has twice as much meaning and its a paradox. Jester the King. Jesters entertain kings, So who does the jester entertain if he is the king?? HMMM!?
