This is a honest question. I only ask you respect it. I'm 15 and I'm sure that makes some of you have a surge of anger or resentment towards me. I understand that you have these feelings, but I don't understand why. I am not the kind of teen who plays Black Ops all night over and over. I enjoy a wide variety of genres and I am not a console fanboy. I own the 3 current "in" consoles, using money I've earned from my summer job and money from my birthdays and gifts from Christmas. I'm not the little shit who stays in his room and ignores his parents. I've enjoyed all the great games many of you do, and I share your love of games. So why the hate? Please share your anger about my gaming generation and how to improve my interaction with the older members of the gaming community so I can improve my interaction with you all.
Thank you so much for reading.

Basically just the tendency for young gamers to act like twats. Frankly, if you don't act like a twat (which you're clearly not), nothing anybody says about young gamers actually applies to you. I used to get bothered about this too, but then I realised that while people may rage against "teens", what they mean is a very specific kind of teen - and if the stereotype doesn't apply to you, you don't have to feel offended or involved at all.

I like younger gamers. They are more willing to geek out with me on a moment's notice.

Then again, I don't play FPS so... might be why I lack this hate you speak of, much of which seems to stem from that genre's players.

I don't understand why people get angry with kids. They're just kids, let them be.

It's the whining, screaming adults that bug me online.

Most visible younger gamers are unfortunately the mouthy little shits who dont seem to understand 'shut up for everyones sake'.

If they stay quiet or dont act like 'tards, no problems whatsoever.

I have no anger towards the younger videogame players, but I try to play with mature (Not as age, but as action and behavior) players,

The problem is that people who are young, not as intelligent and hard-working as you, and spoilt rotten, have purchased for them, and subsequently play, M-rated games they should not be near, and assume themselves to be "the shit", because that's all they've grown up with, and even more infuriatingly refer to themselves as "hardcore gamers".

Dude, you need to go in front of the Supreme Court and say this. I'd like to see them pass a video-game regulation law after hearing it.

To answer you're question, it's unfortunate that you get lumped in with all the online fuckwads, but as long as you don't stoop to their level and be nice, you'll be fine (with me anyways).

I'm 26, still play games regularly, and don't hate anyone just because of what age they are. Douche bags are douche bags, regardless of age. You want to get on your microphone and scream at me and call me a homosexual because I killed you in an online competitive match? You're shit to me, not worth the breath it takes to argue. I mute, I move on. Again, age has nothing to do with it.

This.

Ever been on a plane with a crying child the entire time? Well thats kinda how it feels as someone my age to hear 13 year olds screaming obscenities into a mic. Worse even, because it's happening while doing something that is meant to be fun.

Though it isn't all kids, and to be fair I bet I was a little bastard when I was that age, I just didn't have the technology to annoy people all around the world who were just trying to have fun, would I have? yeah most likely, kids are kids.

Also there are just as many adults who are just as stupid, so hey don't worry man. When you get to my age you'll hate the kids of your current age and well... basicaly everyone too. ;p

I concur. That and I figure that most younger gamers don't really understand respect and such just yet.

Just a theory really. I don't know for certain.

I think a lot of people get pissed off at young gamers purely because of the higher pitch of voice on the mic.

Plus no one likes to get put in their place by someone younger than them.

I have to agree that you do stand out from the usual typified 15 year old gamer. You buy your own games and seem respectful of others. Honestly i just disable voice chat when i play online, unless i'm with a friend, because i can't stand hearing people shout and curse and act like fucking morons. Keep behaving the way you are and don't become an entitled little shit and the older generation of gamers won't have a problem with you.

That being said, it does suck to play a game online after a 10 hour day at work, and get your ass handed to you, because some pre-teen has been playing til his eyes bleed because he doesn't have to work, and could now own you in his sleep.

They need to have match making systems for people by age and level of interest in a game. bleh. sorry, thats a rant for a different thread.

I hate the loud mouthed, annoying, little kids constantly not trying NEW things that are better then the latest FPS. Again, my problem, if it doesn't have the best graphics then the previous game they played, they won't TRY it, and when they do they complain. Hell, I had two friends who wouldn't try Minecraft OR the original Super Mario Brothers because of their graphics, the best indie game in the past generation or so, and the more influential start of a series in todays modern gaming.
I bet I have to say MY OPINION before every sentence too before I get butt fucked by someone with a different opinion, but I don't care.
Then the ones that DO try it don't shut up about it, which is fine, but again, THEY DO NOT TRY anything new, and when they do they either love it and ditch EVERYTHING else, or complain.
Online, kids shouldn't even be ALLOWED to own mics, at least until their respectable, nice people. 1 kid can KILL a server faster then a troll, and 5 of those little shits INSTANTLY ruin a game. Its just.. ITS JUST THEIR SHITS! NO MICS FOR KIDS UNTIL THEIR RESPECTABLE, YOUNG ADULTS!
And OP, your a cool cat, don't worry.

I don't automatically hate you because of your age. I grow to hate certain players on a server by their actions and voice spam rather than age by itself. So no OP, I don't hate you... yet.

This is a terrible assumption on your part. I don't hate young gamers. I hate young PEOPLE.

Seriously, everyone between the ages of 12-24 needs to be sequestered on a fucking island where they can forage and fend off giant lizards and where the rest of society doesn't have to be exposed to their bullshit.
Whoa whoa whoa. I'm 24, a part time graduate student and recently married.... do i still qualify as a young person?? :p
