Your Anger Towards Young Gamers

I have a huge bias against younger gamers. It's not because of multiplayer either, I barely touch anything without "Halo" or "Bad Co. 2" on it. It's the damn IGNORANCE!

I try to explain the concepts of symbolism with the chain-tattoos on the arms of the Protagonist in Bioshock, compounding in the effects of the capitalism-communism sub-plot, and they just say that it sucks because it isn't fast-paced like CoD. They disregard RPG's as "Nerd Games", say God Games are "Too Slow" and are too scared to play Alan Wake. Alan Wake. CHRIST! If Alan Wake's scary then Kingdom of Keflings' core gameplay is piloting AC-130s across a blood-splattered realm!

If they're respectable gamers I have no problem with them. I usually have more of a problem with the people who rag on the respectable young gamers just because they're young.

As a fellow 15 year old, I also find the amount of hate towards teens a little disconcerting. It seems that a fair number of people who think of themselves as "mature" gamers like to lump everyone younger than them in the same group as the two or three brats they heard bitching over the microphone because they couldn't find the mute button.

Of course, there are a lot of teenagers who do keep quiet or at least polite, as I'm sure there are also a lot of older gamers who keep their generalizing in check and know how to mute people, but these groups don't get noticed as often as their counterparts.

I don't personally get angry at younger gamers, especially ones that have a knowledge of a game franchise, give games more than chance, and have a genuine interest for games. The kids that do piss me off are the ones that will play the game for two minutes, think it's boring, or know nothing about the franchise whatsoever ("Who's Doctor Robotnik..?", "What's an Aerodactyl?").

And how many times have you made your brother stop that crap?

Because when you are 18 you don't suddenly magically learn not to be a douche, it takes 18 years of experience, discipline and example making for it to finally all sink in. Those who lack that, well it's harder to change people once they are already adults. They're often known as "assholes".

You could set an example for your bro, laying down the law may be your parent's job but on matters alien to their parents I know that it means a lot more being scorned by their peer.
Trust me, for the sake of other gamers I have tried to make him stop doing it. He thinks it's really funny to do it. I've done everything i can short of beating him to make him stop.

This pretty much explains ALL that is wrong with Online Gaming as well as children online. (Warning: Swearing)

This . This times 10
You sir win this thread .

Yeah , like other people said, kids on mics is terrible . Also kids that play videogames and physically hurt people too ( it doesn't have a connection but when a kid does both ,videogames get a bad rep). Oh and because kids like to diss older games because of graphix.
My entire online life in under a minute. And people wonder why I don't play FPSs.
(Other then the fact that I suck ass at it)

I have no hate for young gamers--or young people in general...well, most of them. The ones that are those bratty, ungrateful teens who want things whenever they beg for it. The ones who can't be happy with what they have, because there's something bigger/newest/faster/better out there. And just the ones who scream and whine while playing online. Those are the ones that get resentment from me.

I don't hate young gamers. I've had some young folks on my friends list who I enjoyed having on my team in games, merely because they were sound folks. I don't like idiots, or folks who scream or sing constantly down the mic, or racist and homophobic comments. Those things can come from anyone.

That was amazing lol! Sums it all right up too. This is why I don't even bother getting xbox live. I don't want to have to deal with all that cr*p. I don't like that I am not able to get dlc though.

I don't hate young gamers as a whole. I just hate the little sh*ts that act really immature. I also don't like it when parents buy 18+ games for their young kids, they should not be playing such games at a young age.

I actually commend and respect you for not being one of them. It's nice to see mature, respectable teenagers.

I don't hate young gamers (I am one), but I do hate people who act like assholes online and who won't try games because of graphics.

This is a honest question. I only ask you respect it. I'm 15 and I'm sure that makes some of you have a surge of anger or resentment towards me. I understand that you have these feelings, but I don't understand why. I am not the kind of teen who plays Black Ops all night over and over. I enjoy a wide variety of genres and I am not a console fanboy. I own the 3 current "in" consoles, using money I've earned from my summer job and money from my birthdays and gifts from Christmas. I'm not the little shit who stays in his room and ignores his parents. I've enjoyed all the great games many of you do, and I share your love of games. So why the hate? Please share your anger about my gaming generation and how to improve my interaction with the older members of the gaming community so I can improve my interaction with you all.
Thank you so much for reading.
Like everyone else is saying, the kids around your age tend to be very annoying and loud online. Obviously, you aren't one of them, although you do sound a bit pretentious by distinguishing yourself like this.
I'm not trying to be pretentious... I'm just seperating myself from a bad pack. I've really appreciated the "Your not like them" sort of comments and I share the same anger with the loud annoying kids... That's it, I guess.

I don't understand why people get angry with kids. They're just kids, let them be.

It's the whining, screaming adults that bug me online.
Yeah. I agree. I'm fine with kids. And coming from me, whose job is working with mostly teens with legitimate behavioral issues, I think that means something.

The only online play I do is TF2, but I try to encourage the kids on there. Or I give them props when they own me.

I find that the majority of them, so long as they have a mic that doesnt spam static and they know what they are talking about, its not so bad to talk with the ones i have met, i usually find that the majority of the annoying ones are in their 20's and think they are 'awesome trolls' :/

Its really only in FPS's that some younger gamers tend to annoy me, but otherwise they've never bothered me that much. They may be louder, but I'd guess that I've probably gotten more hate mail from older players.

In regards to younger gamers. Let me make this very simple, if you have not yet hit puberty, and you are using a mic. I will personally come to your house, punch you in the face, and then burn your headset along with every game you own.
