Not all young people on multiplayer are idiots/douches/whatever. Only a portion of them (I have no idea if it's the majority,or a minority making itself very obvious) are loud and obnoxious pricks that deserve to be powdered in Thermite and lit with a magnesium match.

There are SOME young gamers that are decent poeple. Yes,as they are young, they (usually) have less experience than others, and may ask what we see as stupid questions,or make stupid mistakes. We've all been there. We all used to be them. However, the young ones that will actually develop into a skilled, and co-operative,gamer will be the ones that want to learn, and will accept the truth from any source. Even from the guy that just blasted them in the head with a sawed-off shotgun from five hundred meters off.

But,for the ones who DON'T want to stop being loud.obnoxious pricks? Soak 'em down, cover 'em in Thermite, light 'em up with a magnesium match.

No malice I just don't want you lot giving the baddies killstreaks.

Here is how it works with people with a functional IQ:
19 and over: immaturity- needs to grow up/Maturity-cool...
14-18: immaturity:
swears too much- get over it and shut up
mean to/makes fun of others- little shit
using cheap ass tactics all the time- uuuuuuuuggggghhh
14-18: maturity-at least he is behaving himself
13 and younger: the most likley situation(they are immature)-why are your parents letting you play a mature game?/play something more appropriate kid.
13 and younger: mature- holy shit...

I am 16 and I have grown tired this immaturity that comes with the online gaming experience, although rarely it is actually quite hilarious.

It isn't your age that is a problem, it is your attitude. Almost all young kids I play with on PC run their mouths and scream in their mics to get attention. I still don't use a mic since in a deathmatch game its just annoying. You can type on the PC so unless you are in a clan trying to work together, keep your voice out of pub servers. I don't mind playing with you as long as you just act like an adult.

Addressing the original topic, as an avid Left 4 Dead player, I must say that I'm quite fond of kids. Even their squeaky chatter isn't all that annoying.

But L4D and L4D2 are both special circumstances.

The cool thing about young people in L4D campaign mode (or especially L4D2 Realism mode) is that they learn and learn fast. Nothing straightens out one's act like becoming a cautionary tale. And after getting eaten a few times (without closets in Realism), they quickly figure out how to model after those of us who know (more of) what we're doing. Maybe a dozen times I've seen kids' attitudes transform over the course of a single game, and it's one of the best experiences I know to regain hope in the longevity of the human species. Nothing like a zombie apocalypse to teach manners, charity and reciprocal altruism

Most griefers are teens, but few teens are griefers. My experience with teen players is that they overestimate their own capabilities, and are not swayed from bad habits so quickly when they get pounced by Hunters. Of course part of the problem is that many players (of all ages) join Realism games without knowing the difference between that and Campaign mode. The unwitting usually get eaten by witches, or pounced when they stray out of sight. There are also the ones that join and then vote to increase the difficulty. In the occasions that the vote passes, we all generally get wiped out very quickly; Realism doesn't forgive. (Realism does not forget. Realism is legion.)

The worst players are invariably adults, either who have control issues, or who are drunk, or both. But then again, most players are adults, and few of them are problematic.

This is a honest question. I only ask you respect it. I'm 15 and I'm sure that makes some of you have a surge of anger or resentment towards me. I understand that you have these feelings, but I don't understand why. I am not the kind of teen who plays Black Ops all night over and over. I enjoy a wide variety of genres and I am not a console fanboy. I own the 3 current "in" consoles, using money I've earned from my summer job and money from my birthdays and gifts from Christmas. I'm not the little shit who stays in his room and ignores his parents. I've enjoyed all the great games many of you do, and I share your love of games. So why the hate? Please share your anger about my gaming generation and how to improve my interaction with the older members of the gaming community so I can improve my interaction with you all.
Thank you so much for reading.
I'm 15 but i can't help but get anoyed when 6 year olds scream down the mike in bad english. However I feel your pain.

I hate anybody who shouts too loud, or plays bad quality horrible music over their microphones. Surprisingly it's usually adults. Everyone has the capacity to be a dick.

I'm this, essentially. As I'm one of the teen gamers (a bit older than this guy, but still), but not like them[footnote]I started gaming when I was three, worked from Sega up[/footnote] Since I'm still counted amongst them, I just nonspecifically hate people.

my biggest problem is most kids these day dont know how to lose gracefully or win without being douche bags. example of both "I only lost cause of the four noobs on my team BG!"

"ah did i just kick your ass NOOB! NOOB! U MAD? U MAD?"

yeah thats why i hate playing with children and i know that this is not limited to them and you are in no way like them but it does seem to be a trend in young gamers.

I really don't care about your age. Quite frankly I just get annoyed by squeaky voices, really don't know why. If a kid with a squeaky voice talks, but hes behaving himself and is actually acting mature, then I tolerate it, though it still eats at me. Can't help it. If its an annoying little bastard, I just mute them.

When I started playing games online I was 14, an age where plenty of teens still have AVPS(Annoying Voice Pitch Syndrome), but puberty hit me like a fucking truck so I had a voice as deep as Barry White. So whenever I talked, people wouldn't mind since they thought I was in my late 20's. And when I told them I was 14(since some would ask) I was accused of being a pedophile. Good times.

I'm 15 as well and I only hate the litte racist idiots who you can hear yelling at there parents in the background in the middle of a game and who say you suck when they are 4-20. I also hate when there are two of them in a room together having there own conversation with the most annoying voices ever happily sitting at the bottom of the scoreboard. Oh and when they play FFA and talk about camping and complain when they get shot while camping.

Well I'm literally in the same situation. I actually try to avoid people of our age group, for some of the same reasons that the fine posters have already mentioned. The Squeaky voices of some people our age are quite grating, but I have noticed that they are mostly little kids (like 10 (Who, in my opinion, SHOULD NOT be playing games online, I know I wasn't allowed to play online until I was in 7th grade, which was the first year I could play a rated "M" game). My first console was a playstation one, and I've literally been playing games since I was 5. I just think that our age group gets hate because of the immaturity from a majority of it's members- like the CoD players (which I actually don't play, despite it being the only thing a majority of the guys in my school talk about. I prefer RPGs or things like that) who use curses every five seconds. Now, this isn't to say I'm not completely innocent on this matter because, yes I do curse sometimes when I die in a game, and yes I do get angry sometimes, but I don't go around yelling at people online who are just playing the game. In my opinion, if you cant handle dying fairly in a game, then don't play. That's just what I've gathered from some experiences with fellow schoolmates. I just don't play with a mic in most of the time, because there isn't any reason to state my thoughts unless its a team based game that requires strategy. I find that it helps me avoid the, less favorable, or stand-able members of the 13-15 year old age group.

I don't hate young gamers, and I see no reason to. As long as they're polite, I don't care what the age of someone I game with is.

i'm 16 and i am in the same boat i love the classics (and went out of my way to try to acquire an original nes but unfortunately the person who whined about it not work (i could get it to work though) wouldn't sell it to me) i've played planescape torment, fallout 1,2 and tactics (haven't beaten them but i play them casualy) and try to act politely online at all time (i will admit i have been a dickweed at times but i do apologize for it) and in a competitive online game to hear people around my age with the maturity level of an 8 year old who just found out about cursing it has been making me lose faith in my race but i have yet to meet a person who hates me because of my age (excluding bloatedguppy and meatramen up there) and i have actually been thanked for my polite behavior and tendency to defend the weaker of my team from the elitists and raging hormonions (teens).

I wouldnt say I hate kids and teenagers in online games but I do tend to find a vast majority of them annoying (the kind that scream into voice communication or sit there only to troll the whole time) and I dislike playing with them in MMORPGs because they tend to be very selfish and tend to complain and pout about challenge rather then rise to and overcome them. FInally I have found kids/teenagers to be unreliable in online formats due to parental interferance and while this isnt (directly) their fault it still effects the entire team

Obviously not all kids and teenagers are like this but they do seem to be the vast majority

That's some summer job.

I don't particularly care about young gamers. I don't care about old gamers either, except I like to point them out when uninformed persons tell me gaming is for children. [The average age of a gamer is actually blah blah blah].

I do care about people mindlessly buying into triple A producer's crap. Then I see articles on CNN about Modern Warfare breaking sales records. There are better games than Modern Warfare, very clearly evidenced by the fact that each new one gets higher and higher scores and sales. Stop driving up these sales numbers so they can keep green-lighting tired drivel instead of backing new ip.
