I love my Legendaries, so for me:

1) Celebi
2) Keldeo (Resolute)
3) Ho-oh
4) Zekrom
5) Groudon
6) Genesect (Chill Drive)

And for those of us fussy about "Tournament Rules" and whatnot...

1) Virizion
2) Zapdos
3) Suicune
4) Heatran
5) Latios
6) Regigigas

And all 12 are shiny, just to be a prick.

1. Honchkrow or Absol - Honchkrow is the most overlooked Pokemon ever. Unless you have a Darkrai, also the best Dark type in the game. I know, I know, there are a few others who are very close, but Honchkrow has very high HP, high Physical AND Special attack, and he has freaking fly, so you can basically dodge half your opponent's hits. Absol with Night Slash, Shadow Claw, holding a Razor Claw with Super Luck ability gives you a roughly 66% crit chance. If you aren't feeling lucky, throw in a Dire Hit and just go to town on everything.

2. Raichu - Never understood why nobody evolves their Pikachu. Yes Pika is cute. I'm not playing for cute. I'm playing to pwn cute.

3. Tropius OR Cacturne (I use both but swap depending on the zone.) Tropius has very high speed and the types (Grass/Flying) eliminate more weaknesses than they add. The only good counter to Tropius is Rock and he can out-speed Rock and kill it pretty fast (only Rock+Steel is really effective here). Cacturne with Ingrain + Leech Seed + Giga Drain + Mega Drain + holding a Big Root is a freaking NIGHTMARE for your enemy to EVER kill, unless they can bring a lot of fire in a big hurry. Replace Mega Drain with Toxic if you want to kill them a little faster.

4. Metagross - Nothing beats Steel and Psychic. No I mean literally, nothing actually does. It's just boss. Also Meteor Mash is so OP it breaks the game. Which is good, because leveling a Beldum 30 levels ALSO breaks the game.

5. Charizard/Blaziken/Arcanine - This varies with the game and my other choices. In FireRed/LeafGreen Charizard is a good starter just because he gets Metal Claw as Charmeleon at lv16 so you don't have to catch a damn Butterfree every time like the original Red/Blue. In anything before that, Arcanine, because he has the best stats of any Fire type in the game and he's not hard to catch. Blaziken is my new favorite when Charizard isn't an option just because I never use a team that includes a Fighting type and Blaziken gives me type coverage there.

6. Dugtrio or Swampert - Dugtrio is still the fastest ground type in the game and has high enough attack that his exceedingly low HP is seldom an issue. Swampert has the added bonus if not wasting a lot on a water type just to have Surf, but I still prefer Blaziken if I'm forced to pick.

I also like Zapdos, Articuno, Lucario, and Gardivoir, but these days I seldom use them. I try to skip legendaries because they have a tendency to make the game TOO easy (and it's already one of the easiest games on the market.)

Zapdos
Venusaur
Gyarados
Nidoking
Moltres
Mewtwo

Well that's it. I always had a pokemon that was effective against the opponent's. I considered Articuno over Gyarados at one point but I decided against it.

This was my team in Pokemon White, post game:

Samurott
Metagross
Porygon Z
Golurk
Conkeldurr
Salamence

Some I imported from earlier games, some I raised from this game. I still need to decide on a team for B/W 2... I always like to play with Pokemon I've never used before, gives it a fresh feeling, if that makes sense.

Feraligatr-Dragon claw, Crunch, Aqua tail, Blizzard. Best attack possible, rest doesn't matter
Charizard-Flamethrower, Focus blast, Fly, Solarbeam. S. Attack, rest is up to you
Sceptile-False swipe, Giga drain, Night slash, Leaf storm. Speed & S. Attack
Rhyperior-Hammer arm, Earthquake, Rock wrecker, Megahorn. Attack only
Luxray-Thunderbolt, Iron tail, Crunch, Thunder fang. Attack, S. Attack & Speed
Staraptor-Steel wing, Brave bird, Aerial ace, Close combat. Attack & Speed (maybe health, I use it as a glass cannon)
(Groudon is replacement for any but starters, use any moves, use to set up Charizard's Solarbeam)

When I had Pokemon Yellow, my power party consisted of:

-Pikachu
-Gengar
-Nidoking
-Charizard
-Articuno
-Open slot just in case. Usually, it was Mew or Mewtwo.

For Pokemon Gold, it was:

-Typhlosion
-Sudowoodo
-Azumarill
-Espeon
-Houndoom
-Raikou

For Pokemon Emerald, it was:

-Blaziken
-Mightyena
-Aggron
-Manectric
-Rayquaza
-Pelipper

I think my Emerald team was the best.

Twice more since you posted in it. This thread was made before Pokemon Black & White were.

OT: Dunno about "of all time", but the most recent one I can remember would be my party from SoulSilver, which was:
Tyranitar
Weavile
Gyarados
Lugia
Feraligatr
Pikachu with a Light Ball.

Milotic subs in for Gyarados where applicable, Haunter/Gengar instead of Weavile in earlier Gen games, Feraligatr replaced with any starter I felt like picking, and Lugia's spot is basically a free-for-all spot anyway. It shifts around depending on the game. And Pikachu's spot depends on if I feel like lol-ing my way to a glass cannon through breeding.

Blastoise
Arcanine
Victreebell
Mewtwo
Zapdos
Snorlax.

In short, only Pokemon that I could get without needing to trade, because friends are for the weak, I insited on having a water, fire and grass type (because in the "rock-paper-scissors-lizard-spock nature of the game, they were always the rock, paper and scissors of the game in my head) also, I refuse to recognise the existence of Pokemon outside the first 151.

So yeah. Nothing to do with stats outside of their base types, I just like those Pokemon (except Victreebel, I just didn't like any of the Grass types...And Victreebell could use cut.)

Gaze upon my teams beauty, and weep:

Excluding them... I couldn't decide. Too many I'd want.

My latest party is with SoulSilver (well, technically HeartGold, but I like my SoulSilver team better). I don't know. I'll put both up an see which one seems better:

SoulSilver:
Typhlosion - Flamethrower, Rollout, Double-Edge, Blast Burn
Lugia - Aeroblast, Fly, Waterfall, Extrasensory
Tyranitar - Earthquake, Stone Edge, Crunch, Rock Climb
Ampharos - Fire Punch, Thunderbolt, Thunder, Iron Tail
Bellossom - Magical Leaf, Sunny Day, Cut, Solarbeam
Kingdra - Hydro Pump, Ice Beam, Surf, Dragon Pulse

HeartGold:
Feraligatr - Waterfall, Ice Fang, Crunch, Aqua Tail
Ho-Oh - Sacred Fire, Earthquake, Fly, Fire Blast
Gliscor - Earthquake, Rock Slide, Poison Jab, Aerial Ace
Lanturn - Surf, Ice Beam, Signal Beam, Thunderbolt
Celebi - Energy Ball, Psychic, AcientPower, Solarbeam
Espeon - Psychic, Shadow Ball, Swift, Grass Knot

While Team Soul seems to be built on nostalgia, Team Heart is built with more of each Pokemon's strengths in mind. Still, head-to-head, Team Soul dominates Team Heart.
