Mine is deep water, i hate going into deep water, more so, the sea, in any game, I almost drowned at 16, so deep water scares the crap out of me, you can imagine what happened when i replayed the water temple in OOT

Honestly, fuck wasps.

These bastards are the reason I was afraid to beat Donkey Kong for the longest time!

I think claustrophobia, if used right, could get people freaked out in a way more psychological, slowly close a room in on someone and make them walk through really narrow corridors in low-light condisions and they know an enemy can appear out of nowhere.

Water when there's a threat of insta-death due to a friendly monster or shark deciding to take a swim along with you.

Other than that, none of my real life fears really translate to games. Maybe jump scares, but that doesn't get me scared so much as startled. I still swear quite a bit at them though.

Huge openness, huge fields or oceans where all you can see is the ground and the sky. Seemingly endless boundaries and you can see until the horizon. When I was little this was why I never beat windwaker, I would fall out of the boat and panic, shutting off the game.

Cockroaches, oh Resident Evil 2 how I loathe you.

FUN FACT: My biggest unreasonable fear came from Ocarina of Time, in the form of small and giant Skullturas. No, I'm not afraid of spiders (not even japanese crab spiders or the huntsman spider) but I can't stand the sight or that unerving rattle those skullturas make.

The first two responses to this thread sum up my top two, albeit in reverse order.

1. Spiders. Ugh. The eyes, the legs, the fangs. I can't even look directly at the screen when fighting the big ones in Skyrim or Dragon Age II.

2. Deep water (and the things that lurk therein). Usually it has to be the sort of wide-open deep water type of thing, with the darkness and the murk and the huge monster lurking just out of clear view. Super Mario 64's giant eel (Unagi) was probably the first thing in a game that capitalized on my water fear.

I still hate the dark. >_>

Silent Hill 2 could be a nightmare for that. Those tiny apartments that are pitch black, apart from your shitty little flashlight, and you can hear something approaching you from God knows what direction and the radio's crackling louder and louder... *hyperventilates*

But really, any game that pulls the cheap trick of "Meh, just lower the lighting" to make it seem scarier usually works on me. And I so, so loathe that.

Spiders - Skyrim with spiders...yeeeah I jump a lot when they seem to just appear from nowhere >.<

Any sort of jumpy moments in games so like Silent Hill etc.

Well, like most folks I don't respond well to spiders, and it gets worse the more detailed the beasties are designed. Thanks, Skyrim.

Also I'm terrified of thunder and lightning... you know, the kind of phobia you get from watching one of your friends get struck by a big fat bolt right in front of your eyes. Needless to say I wasn't a huge fan of the tropical storm sequence at the end of Gears of War 3, and even that one level from Serious Sam 3 with the frequent thundercracks (though I never saw any lightning) made me very uneasy.
