Just recently I've had to mourn the loss of one of my favorite game discs, Mass Effect. It got shredded when we lent it to an inconsiderate friend of ours; it worked for a time, but it finally gave up the ghost the other day.

What games have you lost to wear and tear, or accidents?

Disks lost to my 360(s):

Rainbow Six Vegas
Mass Effect
Call of Duty 4
Marvel vs. Capcom 3

Replaced the first 3, waiting for the "ultimate" MvC3.

I hate my 360(s).

Two discs of Halo 3, one to scratches, the other cracked from the middle out. And GOW 1, Had a crackfrom the middle out to near the edge of the disc, but it still worked untill i left it behind the 360's fan.
there have been countless others but these are the two i can remember easiest at the moment.

When I was younger my older brother and I would trade consoles and games. I had (I still have) a Dreamcast and he had a N64. He was very careless with my games and I lost a few good games to him.

Of course, I can't blame him too much. I was careless too with games. Lost many games to leaving them out of their case.

I still have my broken Halo 3 that was lost to scratches, my Pokemon Gold that refuses to save, and a broken copy of Fallout 3 that I have NO idea why it won't work.

Disc 1 of Final Fantasy 7 I lost to overuse. Now it never gets past the Gold Saucer fireworks cinematic on the gondola ride.

Disc 4 of Final Fantasy 9 takes forever to load new screens and rarely, if ever, manages to load battles. Again, just overuse.

I got new copies though.

KoTOR 2 disc number 3. That is it. I don't know why it stopped working. There is not a lot of wear and tear on a PC disc.

fallout 3 and GRAW 2 for my 360. may you rest in peace.
all a result of letting someone borrow a disk. seriously ALL of my game cases look brand new even if they are four years old. not a stain or wrinkle on the plastic. also the bottom of the disks are like magical mirrors because they are so clean and scratch free. all of course except for the ones i let my friend's borrow and the ones i got used. (even then, the used games look cleaner than the ones i let my friend's borrow)

you lend a game to one of your low class and careless friend's, and it comes back looking like they smeared the case with fine grain sand and used it as their personal coaster. i mean you seriously have to try to put a case in that condition, it can't be negligence. then the disk only works half the time. i think i learned my lesson, and it only cost me 120 bucks and 2 really good games.

fuck letting people play my games.

Spyro the Dragon.

I was just playing it one day and suddenly the TV broke down and started going crazy and the inside fryed, along with the game.

Somehow the PS1 survived though, to this very day I have no idea how.

This is why I never lend anyone anything. The only game I've had that got destroyed was also Mass Effect. Was playing it and my girlfriend's cat ran in the room and knocked the 360 over, giving the disc that huge ring scratch.
That's what really grinds my gears about my Mass Effect. Me and my Beau are meticulous about maintaining our discs. We assumed our friend would take the same care. Boy were we wrong. It looked like he'd used it as a nail file.

2 Halo 3 disks. One was after a friend of mine tried to move my xbox while the disk was spinning inside (ffffffffffffffffffuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuu), and the second was when the same friend knocked over my xbox 360 with the game disk spinning inside.

This friend is no longer allowed anywhere near my consoles anymore.

Hmmm my Pokemon Blue won't save either, it must be a fault in the construction of the cartridges.

OT: I mourn the loss of my Ribbit King disc. Hot day+ Toffee =broke ass disc :(
I once opened a new game and it was cracked already, and once I bought a game and it cracked when I pulled it out.

Well my copy of Battlefield: Bad Company 2 is working for campaign but it won't connect to any EA servers so i'd consider that broken. Last month I also lost a copy of AC: Brotherhood when I accidentally kicked my 360 over while getting up to answer the phone. Thank god it was less than a month after I bought it so I got a free replacement copy from the people at Gamestop.

I second that sentiment. My older sister ruined my 1st print Halo:CE disk case by using it as a coaster and some of the sweat from the glass warped the paper. Let's just say that I was less than pleased.

Anyway, on topic: Max Payne and Call of Duty: World at War kicked out on me, as did GRAW and the last disc of Final Fantasy VIII. The last one hurt the most.

My Bioshock 2 disc got shredded by my 360 when someone accidentally tripped over the controller cord.

Also, and this one was much more painful, I found out my copy of FFX had a scratch somehow and I couldn't get any further. Worst part of it was that I was over 30 hours into the game before I found that out.
