Yes, why can't they illustrate adult literature as beautifully as this:

That's one thing I'm looking forward to about having kids (not in the near future); forcing all these great books on 'em!

Childhood seems like many many years ago now, but the ones that I remember the most were...

Mike Mulligan and His Steam Shovel
Where the Wild Things Are.
The Mystery of Chimney Rock (Choose your own adventure)
Inside Ufo 54-40 (CYOA)
The Race Forever (CYOA)
Charlie and the Chocolate Factory
Charlie and the Great Glass Elevator
The Chronicles of Narnia
Hitchhikers Guide to the galaxy
Way of the Tiger: Avenger!(Gamebook, Ninja story, like CYOA but with dice rolls)
Starflight Zero.

In single digits: Redwall, Charlie Brown and Asterix books.

In tweens: Star Wars, The Dark is Rising and His Dark Materials.

In teens: Still Star Wars and pretty much any book I could get my hands on.

Redwall, The Magic Tree House, The Hardy Boys, Jan Brett. Also this one book about three harvest mice that go up a flight of stairs, I have fond memories of that one.

Horrible history/science, horrid Henry, the beano and dandy (I know they're not actually books but ah well) and some book about submarines and the north pole that I can't remember the name of that was about 300 pages...
